Last Updated: 2024/11/06, [India] Simbhaoli intends to import another 160000 tons of raw sugar

(agricultural Wealth net) Dow Jones Mumbai, G.S.C. Rao, executive director of Simbhaoli Sugar Company of India, said on Thursday that in addition to the 200000 tons of raw sugar import contract already signed, Simbhaoli also plans to import another 160000 tons of raw sugar in the new sugar production year starting on October 1 this year.

In view of the domestic supply gap, more sugar will have to be imported to meet domestic consumption demand. So far, Simbhaoli has processed and produced 100000 tons of imported raw sugar.

It is estimated that India's sugar output in 2009-10 sugar production will only reach 16 million tons, while domestic consumption will reach 23 million tons. Under the background that domestic sugar supply lags far behind consumption, it is estimated that India's total imports of raw sugar and white sugar will reach 700-8 million tons in 2009-10 sugar production year. India's domestic sugar consumption is increasing at an annual rate of 1 million tons, so it is urgent to increase domestic sugar supply.

At the same time, our focus in this sugar year will be on getting enough sugar cane.

Simbhaoli Sugar, a sugar company based in Utal Pradesh, India's second-largest sugar producer, delayed the start of the squeeze because it failed to agree with sugar cane farmers on the price of sugar cane. The company already has two sugar mills that opened on Wednesday and plans to pay 100 kilograms of 165-170 Indian rupees to sugar cane farmers. Of course, we do not rule out the possibility of continuing to take measures to encourage sugarcane farmers in the later stage.

It is estimated that the company's sugar production is expected to double to 530000 tons in 2009-10. As of 30 September, Simbhaoli had carried forward 70, 000 tons of sugar.
