Russia: import tariff on raw sugar may be reduced to US $140 tomorrow

Dow Jones News the Russian government said on its website on Thursday that the import tariff on raw sugar may be reduced from the current US $165 to US $140 per ton from January 1 next year.

The government also said on its website that import duties could be further raised to $50 a tonne between May 1 and July 31 next year, adding that the period could be extended.

Russia is the world's second largest importer of sugar.
