(Agricultural Wealth Network) According to a weekly report released by Argentina's Buenos Aires Grain Exchange on November 11, corn planting had completed the planned area of 187. 50,000 hectares, 5.3% lower than the same period last year.
Argentina's maize planting has been slow over the past week.
Because of the delay in rainfall, farmers planted some late-maturing corn. In some areas where spring rains have not yet occurred, farmers have postponed sowing.
Argentina's Rosario Grain Exchange expects corn production to be 16 million tons.
The Government expects domestic maize consumption to be 8 million tons in 2009/10, implying an export supply of only 8 million tons.
