Japan plans to set requirements for importing fresh mangoes from Colombia

On November 4, 2009, Japan issued a notice that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries intends to formulate requirements for the import of fresh mangoes from Colombia.

Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has formulated import requirements to permit the import of Colombian fresh mangoes to Japan. Import requirements include: hot steam treatment under specified conditions, national NPPO inspection and certification, and Japanese plant quarantine officer certification confirming the proper implementation of the above measures.
