Achievements in pest control in rice production in Minhang District of Shanghai this year

With the joint efforts of plant protection personnel in districts and towns in rice production in Minhang District this year, all kinds of diseases and insect pests have been controlled to the minimum, and the results of disease and insect control are remarkable. According to the investigation, the damage rate or occurrence amount of diseases and insect pests decreased compared with last year, among which: the white panicle rate damaged by borers was 0.02%, the white leaf rate damaged by Cnaphalocrocis medinalis was 0.05%, the diseased plant of sheath blight was 1.19%, the residual amount of rice planthopper was 24,900/mu, the incidence rate of rice false smut and rice blast was zero, the stripe blight index was 0.12, and there was no dead point of rice in the whole region. But last year, the rate of borer damage to white panicle, the rate of Cnaphalocrocis medinalis damage to white leaf, the rate of sheath blight disease plant and the residual quantity of rice planthopper were 1.25%, 0.98%, 8.23% and 27.26 million/mu respectively.

This year's rice production will be another bumper harvest and yield increase year. The District Agricultural Technology Center recently asked plant protection workers at all levels to make persistent efforts to do a good job in chemical treatment of autumn wheat seeds and chemical weeding in the field, laying a solid foundation for next year's summer grain harvest.
