According to the Senegalese Ministry of Agriculture, food crops are growing well this year and will have a bumper harvest. So far, 739000 tons of millet, 544000 tons of corn and 508000 tons of rice have been harvested. Due to the increase in rice production this season, rice imports are expected to decrease by 24%. Of course, a bumper harvest is gratifying, but the problem that worries the agricultural authorities most is the lack of processing capacity of agricultural products.
