According to the latest report released by the United States Department of Agriculture, soybean production in Kansas is expected to hit an all-time high this year, reaching nearly 157 million bushels, 11 million bushels higher than the forecast in October.

The Kansas soybean harvest has been 72% complete, although it is still 16% behind the five-year average, according to the USDA on Monday. But it has prompted the government to raise soybean production figures.

The Kansas Soybean Association said the preliminary results showed that the soybean yield per unit area was good.

During October, temperatures in soybean-producing areas of Kansas set an all-time low, with rainfall 56% higher than normal, bringing the local soybean harvest to a standstill. Some farmers have only half finished harvesting soybeans.

The USDA expects US soyabean production to reach 3.32 billion bushels this year, up 2 per cent from last month.

The USDA maintains corn production figures for Kansas at 561.2 million bushels, which would be an all-time high.

The USDA expects US corn production this year to be 12.9 billion bushels, 1 per cent lower than last month's forecast.
