VinodK.Ladia, vice president of the Indian Chemical Fiber and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), said at the weekend that exports of Indian man-made fibres and rayon textiles to Saudi Arabia continued to grow, and the upcoming pilgrimage season in Mecca is a good time for exports. The Indian Chemical Fiber and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) held a meeting between buyers and sellers at the Trident Hotel. Ladia, head of the delegation, said Indian textile exports to Saudi Arabia were expected to exceed US $200m in 2009 and US $129 million last year, an increase of 20 per cent over the previous year.

He said that there is a huge room for joint ventures in the textile sector, which can benefit both sides. There was great potential and the Indian delegation was impressed by the reaction of local businessmen.

The Indian delegation, which included 22 SRTEPC member companies, visited Riyadh earlier. At the meeting between buyers and sellers, the delegation displayed a wide range of man-made textile products, including fabrics and finished products.

The trade relationship between India and Saudi Arabia is close, and the history of trade relations between the two countries can be traced back hundreds of years.

In recent years, this relationship has been further strengthened, which in turn has greatly strengthened the economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the sixth largest chemical fiber textile market in India.
