According to the latest report released by the United States Department of Agriculture, wheat production data from 27 EU countries in 2009 were cut by 1.1 million tons to 138 million tons.

According to the USDA, French wheat production figures for 2009 / 10 were cut by 950000 tons because of a reduction in acreage. Wheat production in the UK was cut by 400000 tonnes, Italy and Spain by 200000 tonnes each, and smaller declines in Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia.

However, the declines were larger than those in other countries, with Lithuania by 170000 tonnes, Latvia by 120000 tonnes and Germany, Hungary, Poland and Finland by 100000 tonnes each.
