Agricultural production in the Philippines increased by 1.55% in the third quarter.
According to a report on GMA television in the Philippines on November 17th, agricultural production in the Philippines increased by 1.55% in the third quarter of this year, down from 3.23% in the same period last year. Of this total, rice output reached 3.51 million tons, 1.5 percent lower than last year's 3.467 million tons. Corn began to recover after a decline, rising 5.17% to 2.372 million tons. Livestock increased by 1.06 per cent to 9.73 million tons. Poultry rose 1.7 per cent to 9.73 million tonnes, but the fisheries sector declined for the first time in recent years, with fishery production falling 0.14 per cent to 17.275 million tonnes from 17.298 million tonnes in the same period last year, compared with an increase of 4.92 per cent in the same period last year. From January to September this year, agricultural growth slowed to 1.5 per cent, down from 4.16 per cent in the same period last year.
