Trial culture of spotted trout in deep-sea cages

On the 26th, 4000 spotted trout salmon were put into the sea area of Daqin Island, Changdao County, Yantai City, Shandong Province for cage culture, filling the gap in the cultivation of spotted trout salmon in seawater in China. It is reported that deep-water cage culture of fish has become another pillar industry in long Island County after kelp and scallop and other sea treasures culture.

According to experts, trout salmon belongs to the salmon series, cold water fish, suitable water temperature below 23 C, fast growth rate, 18 months can reach 68 jin, the market value is quite high. So far, there has been a culture history of more than 120 years, and the culture areas cover more than 20 countries and regions, and a large aquaculture industry has been formed. however, the current culture capacity of trout and salmon in China is only more than 6000 tons, and more than 95% of them are cultured in fresh water. The quality of trout salmon cultured in seawater is better than that cultured in fresh water. It is the first time in China that spotted trout salmon are cultured in seawater in long Island County.

The spotted trout salmon introduced in the sea area of Daqin Island, long Island, is a hybrid of Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout, which was developed and cultivated by Shandong Mariculture Research Institute. This trial culture will focus on the overwintering growth of spotted trout salmon in the waters of Daqin Island. The trial culture of this species will further enrich the fish culture species in long Island County and will enhance the culture efficiency of ecological fishery on the island.

Cage culture of marine fish is still a new industry in long Island County. Since 2002, long Island County began to explore deep-water cage fish culture. up to now, long Island County has formed a set of systematic and scientific fish culture regulations, with nearly 300 deep-water fish cages and nearly 5 million black mackerel, six-line fish, sea bass and other fish. This year, nearly 1,000 tons of black mackerel have been sold, with an income of nearly 40 million yuan.
