The "pig cycle" has long been a market curse. And an ordinary farmer, 20 years, why can always get rid of its troubles, always "hold the hand of the market"? What will pig farmers taste from Zhang Bin's story?

It was an accident to interview Zhang Bin. A few days ago, the reporter had dinner with Shen Dezhi, deputy director of the Yandu District Committee of Agriculture in Yancheng City, and mentioned the price of pigs. He suddenly sighed with emotion: I admire a farmer very much. He has raised pigs for decades. It is really impossible to say that pigs are raised well and earn a lot of money. The judgment of the market is even more amazing. The reporter was fascinated and immediately decided to go straight to Chenyang Village, the most remote town in Yandu District, to see the amazing farmer swineherd Zhang Bin.

It was the scorching sun at two o'clock in the afternoon. Hearing the sound of car horns, the door of Chenyang North Pig Farm slowly opened, and a thin, small, middle-aged man in overalls appeared in front of the reporter. When he walked into the humble pig house, the reporter was completely shocked by his first words of introduction: "I started raising pigs in 1991, from two pigs to more than 3000 now. No matter what the market is, I have never lost money."

You've been raising pigs for 20 years and you've never lost money? In the past 20 years, how many times has China's pig market experienced roller coaster ups and downs? Zhang Bin eloquently told the story of his invincible pig raising.

"I failed in the college entrance examination in 1986 and went back to the village. The family condition is poor. I want to find something to do as soon as possible and make some money. " At first, he had no capital. Zhang Bin raised chickens for several years. Until one day, an advertisement changed his choice and fate.

It was an advertisement for "Rapid fattening" in Guangdong, which made him suddenly interested in raising pigs. In 1991, Zhang Bin borrowed dozens of yuan from others and took back two little pigs. three months later, the fat pigs were sold and made a profit of 200 yuan.

This really excited Zhang Bin. He simply calculated from this: "if you raise 100 heads, don't you become a household of ten thousand yuan?" Wanyuan household, in the countryside in the early 1990s, it was a big deal, and now it can be touched by itself, which excites the young Zhang Bin. He regards raising pigs as his unfulfilled college dream and strives wholeheartedly.

"follow your feelings, you might as well learn from books." Zhang Bin raises pigs, which is different from other farmers. He loved thinking and learning, so he bought a large number of scientific and technological books related to pig breeding, and soon found out a variety of pig-raising "skills", such as self-made pig feed, diagnosis and treatment of pig diseases, cross breeding, and so on. And his keen ability to grasp market information has helped him to achieve good results.

A year later, Zhang Bin's annual income successfully exceeded 10,000 yuan. But it was soon discovered that selling piglets was more profitable than selling fat pigs, so he decisively decided to breed sows. Slowly "snowballing", Zhang Bin raised more and more pigs and made more and more money.

In 1994, Zhang Bin ushered in the first round of "Crazy Pig Market" in his pig career. "at its peak, piglets sold for NT $6 per jin, while barley feed sold for only NT $1.7 per jin at that time, and a piglet sold for NT $300 to NT $400!" By 1996, Zhang Bin had more than 100,000 yuan on hand, so he rented 11 mu of land in the village, built a new pig farm, and raised more than 60 pigs that year.

In January 1998, when Zhang Bin was preparing to sell pigs, the market changed sharply and pig prices plummeted. "the market price of piglets is only 80 cents per jin, while the cost of homemade feed is 90 cents." At this time, because Zhang Bin's pig had a good reputation in the market, someone offered 1.40 yuan per jin to buy it. Sell it or not? Zhang Bin hesitated and decided not to sell! "according to my analysis, at that time, the price of piglets fell because there were too many piglets in the market, but at that time, the price of fat pigs sold for more than two yuan per jin, so I wanted to keep it for another three months. I was sure to make a profit when I grew into a fat pig." Three months later, Zhang Bin's fat pig was fenced at 2.9 yuan per jin, and one pig still made 100 yuan.

In the fall and climb of the market, Zhang Bin raised pigs more and more proficient. In 1998, he began to study variety improvement. "the pig breed I raised at that time was called'Tu Yuan'. At the same time, I tested and bred several'Tu Sanyuan'. Unexpectedly, the small swordsman in the market is willing to take my 'earth three yuan' for more than 50 cents a jin. " Since then, Zhang Bin has replaced all his pigs with "Earth Sanyuan" with high slaughtering rate and high lean meat rate. On the other hand, his own breeding of "Earth Sanyuan can reproduce sows" has spread ten or ten times, attracting people from all over the country to rush to buy it. He said proudly, "I've sold thousands of this kind of sow, and I've really made a lot of money."

In 2004, when pig prices peaked again, Zhang Bin said he made a lot of money. In that year, the price of fat pig reached 5 yuan per jin, while the price of feed such as corn and soybean meal was only a few cents. This year, Zhang Bin made a net profit of 470000 yuan. By 2007, Zhang Bin again invested more than 2 million yuan to build a new South Pig Farm, with an annual output of 2000 fat pigs. In that year and 2008, when the pig market was in a good year, the price of fat pigs reached 9 yuan / jin. As a result, "in two years, the investment was fully recovered."
