Last Updated: 2024/09/19, Raising sharks is worth 500000 yuan.

More than ten tons of old sharks occasionally pass by in Qingdao, but not many of them can catch them ashore. This kind of shark caught in the south has actually been farmed in Qingdao. In 2004, Liu Chuanwu of Anzi Wharf in the development zone invested 500000 yuan in artificial breeding of tiger head sharks and bred 5000 shark fry. But the next year, he changed careers. It is difficult to raise sharks. What is the difficulty? On September 19, 2011, the reporter interviewed Liu Chuanwu.

Invested 500000 to raise sharks and lost it.

In 2004, Liu Chuanwu was interested in fishery aquaculture. Knowing that there was already a precedent of successful shark farming in the south, he went to the south to inspect the "cage shark farming" project. After returning to Qingdao, he invested 500000 yuan and raised a total of 5000 natural seedlings of tiger-headed sharks. Since May, "a large number of shark seedlings have been collected from the southern sea area, and after more than six months of indoor induction and domestication, they are then put into the sea for cage culture." Lao Liu said.

After half a year of growth, shark fry has grown from 50 grams to more than one kilogram, growing well, and the survival rate is as high as 93%. According to the identification of marine experts at that time: shark larvae are worthy of large-scale breeding and promotion. But the next year, he stopped the project and lost 500000 yuan of investment.

Can only raise 60-70 centimeter sharks.

Once grown up, a shark weighs at least a few thousand jin and likes to live at a depth of 200 meters. Once farmed, how can these conditions be achieved?

Tian Jingbo, an associate researcher at the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, once made fishery planning for the "shark village" in Puqi Town, Zhejiang Province, and put forward the project of "cage culture of sharks". Professor Tian said, "it is very difficult to raise sharks in cages, and the success rate of artificial reproduction is very low. This is a technical difficulty, and industrialization can only be achieved after a breakthrough." The old sharks caught at sea are often more than ten tons each, but once shark farming is realized, how can we find such a big place?

"at present, the sharks that can be raised are small, with a general length of 60 to 70 centimeters, and the largest is 3 to 5 meters. this small shark can eat all over its body." Professor Tian Jingbo said, "in fact, only whale sharks and plum blossom sharks belong to protected animals, but the chances of these two sharks appearing in Qingdao waters are very small, and other sharks can be bought and sold."

Tropical sharks are hard to survive when the water temperature is too low.

In addition to the technical difficulties of artificial reproduction, the low water temperature in the north is also an important reason why tropical sharks are difficult to survive.

"it's too hard to raise. After only one winter, most of the shark larvae froze." Introduction of Liu Chuanwu, a farmer. The shark's tolerance to low temperature is weak, and the suitable water temperature for growth is 20 ℃ ~ 30 ℃. When the water temperature drops to 14 ℃ ~ 18 ℃, the activity decreases, even stops breathing, and shock or even death occurs when the water temperature is 12 ℃ ~ 13 ℃.

"if you introduce sea water from the sea, you have to burn coal before you dare to put it in. If the temperature is too low, the shark will die. In addition, there is a need for long-term care in the greenhouse. " Just to solve the problem of low temperature, Lao Liu invested hundreds of thousands of yuan.

Shark meat generally tastes hard to sell.

"because of the mediocre taste, we ate half of the sharks that survived at that time, and the remaining half were put back into the sea." Lao Liu said, "it doesn't taste any different. It's not even as delicious as ordinary fish." Restaurants don't sell well, and people in Qingdao don't recognize shark meat very much. " Seeing that the market was selling in general, Liu Chuanwu completely gave up the idea of breeding again and switched to scallop farming the following year.

It is understood that there is not much shark meat in Qingdao market, and the price is between 10 yuan and 20 yuan per catty. Although the price is not high, few people buy it in Qingdao market.
