Liu Heshun of Liuzhuang Village in the county is a well-known expert on Pleurotus ostreatus. He "turns waste into treasure" and collects corn stalks to crush and ferment instead of ingredients. Lao Liu also has a circular economy account: it costs 8 yuan per square meter to buy ingredients, while only 2 yuan per square meter to use straw, saving nearly 80% of the cost. There are more than 11000 edible mushroom growers in Qingfeng County. The use of straw to plant edible fungi has driven the economy of straw utilization and increased farmers' income.
