Gaohu Town, Yixing City, Jiangsu Province, which is close to the lake, has always been famous for raising hairy crabs, with more than 50,000 mu of water. However, with the continuous expansion of the scale of breeding, crab farmers generally reflect that due to the shortage of manpower, it affects the survival rate of crab seedlings and the quality of crab farming. Just when the crab farmers were worried, in March 2011, the first Internet of things aquaculture base in the province jointly created by Wuxi Mobile, China Mobile Animal networking Research Institute, Yixing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Forestry, and China Agricultural University was quietly settled in the Peng Harrier Ecological Park in Gaohu Town, using advanced Internet of things technology, network monitoring, and sensing equipment to help crab farmers "intelligently raise crabs." Half a year later, when it was time for autumn crab fertilizer, Master Huang, who used "intelligent crab farming", could not hide his joy. He said: "this year, the survival rate of crab seedlings has increased by 15%, the crab is bigger, the yield per mu is higher, and the market price has also gone up to a level. I think my crab pond can earn tens of thousands of yuan more than in previous years!"

Master Huang is not the only beneficiary, and all the crab farmers here give a thumbs-up. What on earth is "intelligent crab farming"? In the public praise, our reporter walked into the Yixing Internet of things aquaculture base.

The real version of "Happy Pond"

It is said that farmers "face the loess and turn their back to the sky, with a hundred jin of sweat," but now crab farmers in Gaoyi Town can manage dozens of mu of aquaculture ponds by clicking the mouse in front of the computer and tapping on the keyboard. Isn't this a copy of the popular online game "Happy Farm" in reality? Wuxi Mobile uses a large number of sensor nodes to form network monitoring to help crab farmers find problems in time, locate accurately, and adopt remote intelligent control means to solve the problems. By October this year, more than 1000 water quality parameter collection equipment had been installed and more than 100 application cards in the data collection industry had been put into operation, covering 50, 000 mu of river crab culture waters, serving more than 1000 aquaculture households, and real-time monitoring 6 breeding sites through a remote video surveillance center.

Remote oxygenation: crab farmers log in to the Aquaculture Monitoring and Management system through the Internet and mobile phone terminals, and they can know the dissolved oxygen content, temperature, water quality and other index parameters in the culture pond anytime and anywhere. For example, the amount of dissolved oxygen, green represents normal dissolved oxygen, yellow represents low dissolved oxygen, and red represents warning. Once you find an early warning of the dissolved oxygen index in a certain area, you only need to click "turn on the aerator" to realize remote control. Mr. Shi, 56, an old crab farmer with more than 10 years of experience in aquaculture, said with deep feeling: "in the past, when raising crabs, they dared not take a step out of the pond all year round, especially at night for fear of sudden changes in the weather and the death of fish and crabs caused by lack of oxygen in the pond. it is common to stay awake at the edge of the pond all night. Now, even if you travel, you can use your mobile phone to control the aerator at any time."

Intelligent feeding: the crab farmer mobile phone sends SMS instructions to the central platform, which can control the automatic feeding machine to feed the aquatic animals in the pond area according to the preset interval. After the instruction is sent, the crab farmers who are not on the scene can also monitor the water surface condition of the pond area in real time through the network video surveillance system to avoid the loss caused by misoperation. Crab farmer Zhou Baoyin said: "in the past, it was real to run down two laps a day. A family of four is not enough. It is much more convenient to have an automatic feeding machine. It is done by clicking the mouse on time. Our dozens of mu ponds are all done in less than 10 minutes!"

Early warning information: the management staff of the monitoring center can also judge the possible weather changes according to the accumulation of historical data in the pond area, and send weather warning, aquatic product disease warning and other information to all crab farmers through the platform. Remind crab farmers to take corresponding preventive measures such as increasing oxygen, transplanting water plants, clearing ponds and so on. Master Xiao Zhang is in his early twenties and is raising crabs for the first time this year. He told the reporter: "I am a novice, and my experience is certainly not as important as those old crab farmers. This early warning information is so important to me that when and what to do is like teaching me by hand. You see, the crabs I raise are no worse than theirs!"

In the eyes of crab farmers, the Internet of things can really help, management is easier, the income is higher, to catch up with such a good thing, who is not secretly happy.

Let informationization benefit the countryside

The work of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" has always been an issue of greatest concern to state leaders and governments at all levels. For many years, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued the first document focusing on the "three rural" project, clearly put forward the requirements of "promoting rural informatization", "improving the rural comprehensive information service system", "speeding up the construction of a new socialist countryside" and so on.
