Last Updated: 2024/09/19, The 60-year-old farmer in Yongkang, Zhejiang fell in love with black rice.

"Lao Zhu, can you sell me more of your black rice this year? the price is up to you." On June 26, Zhu Yinhong, who was replanting seedlings in the fields in Qiankeng Village, Gushan Town, Yongkang City, received several reservation calls. "looking at this momentum, this year my black rice rice is the emperor's daughter again-Don't worry about getting married!" Zhu Yinhong said.

Zhu Yinhong, 60, is a member of a professional cooperative for grain production in Yongkang City. this year, he has contracted more than 300 mu of land in Gushan, Zhiying and other places in the city, an increase of more than 100 mu over last year, and is ready to do more work. For large grain growers like Lao Zhu, the government subsidies for growing grain include: 40 yuan per mu of direct subsidy, 50 yuan per mu of machine planting, 40 yuan per mu of unified defense rule, plus various subsidies such as raising seedlings in greenhouse and drying rice, and the government acts as an "agricultural nanny" throughout the process.

If we have a good policy, we should also choose a good variety. In planting rice seeds, Lao Zhu did not follow the usual path: more than 200 mu of ordinary high-quality rice, leaving 100 mu of black rice.

Lao Zhu said that last year he tried to grow 53 mu of black rice, but he did not expect a hit, with a considerable output, not to mention that he sold "every grain" that year. "ordinary rice produces 650kg of rice per mu, with an output value of 2000 yuan at most." Lao Zhu's "abacus" made it very clear that the market price of black rice is about three times that of ordinary rice, and the average output value per mu is at least 1000 yuan higher than the latter.

A bigger change is that this year, Lao Zhu mainly played the "ecological card" and "green card" and, together with other members of the cooperative, carried out scientific rice planting in the whole process in accordance with the requirements of standardized rice production, so as to ensure the quality of rice.

In early June, the Dadi Cooperative's pollution-free rice certification has just been passed, which means that members enter the market with another "protective umbrella". Lao Zhu also has a plan to get the origin certification of his black rice rice. He said that if this "signboard" can be taken, black rice will double its value and the benefit will be better.
