Luqiao District has more than 2 million tons of scrap metal turning waste into treasure every year, and the total output value of the dismantling industry accounts for 1/5 of the region's total industrial economy, nurturing many entrepreneurs like Dai Mingdan. However, the disassembly industry is also very easy to cause secondary pollution.

In recent years, environmental improvement has been carried out in Luqiao District for many times. After the "Fengjiang Blood lead" incident, Road and Bridge carried out a comprehensive and thorough rectification of the heavy industries, metal smelting industry, and solid waste disassembly industry, and took this as a breakthrough in transformation and upgrading. Out of the pressure of environmental regulation and his love of gardening, Dai Mingdan decided to switch to seedling cultivation.

In December last year, he transferred 400 mu of land in Fupai Village and Tingyu Village to introduce valuable tree species such as nanmu, rosewood, bamboo and cypress. "A bamboo and cypress with a diameter of five or six centimeters is currently sold for 700 yuan. If it grows to 10 centimeters three years later, it can sell for more than 1000 yuan. This is a lot of money!" Dai Mingdan is full of confidence and wants to contract another 50 to 1000 mu of land this year to expand his cause.

At present, more than 1.2 million sweet-scented osmanthus, red leaf photinia and tea plum are closely cut under the trees. "waiting for the cuttings to survive is another considerable income." Dai Mingdan said with a smile, "the seedling industry earns no less than dismantling."

In Luqiao, there are several bosses who have changed from dismantling bosses to "Green Meifu".

"this has clearly become a trend." Lin Huiqing, deputy director of the subdistrict office, said: last year, Fengjiang proposed to build a 10,000 mu flower and seedling base in five years. At present, more than 2000 mu of land has been transferred for the seedling industry, and another 2540 mu will be added this year. In order to encourage more people to become "green beauty and wealth", Luqiao District regularly invites agricultural and forestry experts to carry out training.

Dai Mingdan has many ideas about this new career: "in addition to gardening, we can also develop tourism in the future." The newly transferred more than 50 mu of land, because it is close to the villagers' houses, Dai Mingdan turned this land into a sweet-scented osmanthus forest, making the air cleaner.
