During the Spring Festival, the price of native chicken has been rising, from 14,15 yuan per catty to 20,25 yuan per catty, sometimes as high as 30 yuan per catty. The reporter visited and found that the huge profits produced by raising native chickens have stimulated not only the enthusiasm of retail investors, but also the enthusiasm of large-scale farmers, who have purchased a large number of chicken seedlings and expanded the scale of breeding. In this regard, experts warn that although raising native chickens is "fire" avoid blindly following the trend.

"Boss, pick out 50 chicks for me."

"Lao Li, don't you want no more than 20 when you buy so many at once?"

"it's different now. You don't see that during the Spring Festival this year, the price of native chicken is so high. I'm going to raise it until next year to sell it, so I can make a lot of money."

At the farmers' market in Yinshan Town, Zizhong County, Li Runwen, a farmer from Gangshi Village, Yinshan Town, bought 50 chicken seedlings at once.

Like Li Runwen, looking at the high price of local chicken during the Spring Festival this year, many farmers are aiming for next year, hoping to get a piece of the pie in the face of huge profits.

On the same day, the vendor Mr. Zhang's 1000 chicken seedlings quickly sold out, much better than before. Mr. Zhang believes that in addition to the rising temperature, it may also have something to do with the price of native chickens during the Spring Festival this year.

Recently, the reporter walked into Group 6 of Pine Village, Maan Town, Zizhong County, and native chicken farmer Liao Xiaoping is organizing workers to expand the chicken coop.

"I made a lot of money during the Spring Festival this year, and now I want to expand the scale of farming and make a lot of money." Liao Xiaoping expressed his thoughts.

In April 2012, Liao Xiaoping began raising native chickens, and months later, the first batch of 1500 chickens soon grew up for sale. But Liao Xiaoping did not sell it, but waited until the Spring Festival. "at the most expensive time, the wholesale price was 21 yuan per jin, 60.7 yuan higher than usual. And the retail price on the market, the highest sold 30 yuan per jin. " Liao Xiaoping said.

"in two days, the expansion of the chicken house will be completed, and I will introduce 5000 at one time." Liao Xiaoping is very optimistic about the future market situation of native chicken.

Xu Rong, a farmer of Group 6 in Yantai Village, Huangjinggou Town, Weiyuan County, has the same idea as Liao Xiaoping.

Xu Rong is a famous local native chicken farmer, selling more than 30,000 native chickens every year, with an annual income of 4.5 million yuan. During the Spring Festival this year, he developed a "rich flower blooming" native chicken gift box, which sold for 600 yuan each. In the face of huge profits, Xu Rong began to expand the scale of breeding. "this year, we are going to build chicken sheds on contracted land in Shanwang Town to expand the scale of breeding, and it is estimated that more than 40,000 native chickens will be sold annually." Xu Rong said.

Chen Hong, a farmer in Group 7 of Dongshan Village, Shuangqiao Township, Dongxing District, who has not raised native chickens for two years, can't wait to introduce 2000 chickens recently.

When it comes to raising native chickens, Chen Hong has a deep feeling. In 2009, he began to raise native chickens and opened restaurants in the market to produce and sell on his own. However, he didn't make any money. "at that time, the price of native chicken was so cheap that it was only eight or nine yuan per jin." After that, Chen Hong gave up raising native chickens to concentrate on running his restaurant. Even if the local chicken sold in the restaurant, he bought it from other farmers.

"the price of native chicken during the Spring Festival this year is too high. The cheap one is more than 100 yuan, and the expensive one is more than 200 yuan." Looking at the rising price of native chicken again, Chen Hong went back to his old business and raised native chicken again.

Zhou Yong and Chen Hong are from the same hometown, and they think the same way. Zhou Yong introduced more than 2000 pigeon chickens this year, hoping to sell all of them before the price of native chickens falls.

In view of the phenomenon that farmers have purchased a large number of chicken seedlings and expanded the scale of breeding, animal husbandry experts have different views.

Zhong Shouming, head of the production Science and Technology Section of the Neijiang Animal Husbandry and Food Bureau, believes that the price of native chicken has stages, and whenever the Spring Festival, when consumer demand is large, the price will have a rising process, but there are exceptions. Zhong Shouming said that in 2011, there were a large number of farmers raising native chickens, and the scale of farming was also very large, and everyone wanted to make a profit during the Spring Festival in 2012. However, during the Spring Festival in 2012, the price of native chicken fell instead of rising, to only seven or eight yuan per catty, resulting in heavy losses for many farmers. The reason is that in addition to the epidemic in some parts of the south, which has affected people's demand and consumption, what is more important is that overproduction has led to a drop in prices.

"the sharp rise in local chicken prices during the Spring Festival this year is not only related to people's rising living standards, but also mainly affected by supply and demand." Zhong Shouming said that due to the influence of prices in 2012, many farmers gave up breeding, and demand exceeded supply in the market, which led to particularly high prices this year. Zhong Shouming reminded that farming native chickens can not be blindly followed up, especially large-scale farmers, there must be a stable sales market.
