Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Cauliflower has become the "getting rich flower" of Gaojiapu villagers in Shenzhou, Hebei Province.

A few days ago, the author came to the field of Gaojiapu Village, Qiaotun Township, Shenzhou City, and saw the yellow cauliflower as far as the horizon, and people working hard in the distance. Miao Genwei, secretary of the village branch, came over and enthusiastically introduced: "our village has been cultivating cabbage seeds for more than 10 years, and it is now in bloom, and it will be harvested in a month or so. These flowers are all 'getting rich' flowers for our people!"

Gaojiapu Village was once a traditional agricultural village, with only more than 400 people and 800 mu of arable land, and the villagers mainly planted wheat, corn and other field crops. In order to increase farmers' income, with the strong support of the Qiaotun township party committee and government, and relying on the traffic location advantage of the provincial highway, the village has determined the work goal of "adjusting the planting structure to increase farmers' income". In 2000, the "two committees" of the village established contact with Tianjin Institute of Agricultural Sciences through the kinship of villagers Miao Chunnian. After actively running, we finally signed an agreement with the Institute of Agricultural Sciences to introduce a high-end cabbage seed cultivation project.

With the road to wealth, the villagers do not recognize it. While promoting and launching the "two committees" of the village, the village team took the lead in rapeseed cultivation. As a result, growers tasted the benefits that year, leading more and more people to join in. According to the agreement, the Institute of Agricultural Sciences is responsible for providing seeds every year, all of which are recycled after maturity, and the villagers have gradually mastered the planting technology. Every year before winter comes, the villagers make a simple greenhouse ahead of time, and New Year's Day sows rapeseed on the eve of the winter. After the temperature rises in spring, they are transplanted to the farmland, and the wheat can be harvested before harvest.

Miao Genwei calculated an account: "the cultivation of cabbage seeds only needs to lay the base fertilizer, water two water and spray pesticides once or twice in spring, which is almost half the cost of growing wheat, but the income has doubled." It is understood that the yield of cabbage seed is about 100kg per mu, with an average income of more than 3000 yuan per mu. At the same time, due to the short growth period of rapeseed and the harvest of wheat before harvest, the growth period of summer grain crops such as corn was prolonged, and the yield of summer grain was significantly higher than that of other growers.

Today, rapeseed cultivation in Gaojiapu Village has become a local feature, and it has also led the surrounding villages to embark on the road to prosperity. At present, rapeseed cultivation in this village and the neighboring Linjiapu village has reached more than 200 mu, and the villagers' annual income is more than 600,000 yuan. Miao Genwei said confidently: "the cultivation of cabbage seeds cannot be too close to the road, which restricts the further expansion of the scale. in the future, we will strengthen communication with the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, introduce more agricultural science and technology projects, and lead the villagers to achieve a well-off society as soon as possible."
