In the remote town of Shiyuetian in the west of Changjiang Li Autonomous County, there is a beautiful legend that "barren soil becomes fertile soil".

Wang Yunqing, the old father of Wang Zuchun, a farmer in Baoping Village, Shiyuetian Town, is now looking forward to the arrival of one person every day: the doctoral historiography group of Hainan University. In the words of Wang Yunqing, Xiao Shi brought a group of capable people who "turned earth into gold" in the mango orchard.

Changjiang fertile land, known as the "hometown of mango", mango planting reached 100000 mu in the 1990s. More than half of the more than 6000 people in Baoping village rely on mango cultivation as their source of income. But over the years, Changjiang mango varieties have not been improved, management technology is backward, planting technology can not keep up with, coupled with the harvest time on the market is always more than a month later than Sanya, Ledong, mango can not be sold, the sad scene of rotting in the countryside is still fresh in the memory of the old farmers.

Mango is the main source of local agricultural income, how to make farmers hold this "golden pimple"?

On August 18, farmers screened orchid seedlings under the guidance of their teachers at Meilan Internship Farm of the Provincial Agricultural School.

After thinking about the plan, the Provincial Department of Education, relying on the technical and talent advantages of universities and technical secondary schools in our province, helps farmers to implement projects of efficient and characteristic agricultural products to increase their income. Soon, under the leadership of the Department of Education, the key technology research and application project for the safe and efficient production of mango in Changjiang of Hainan University was "landed" in Baoping Village.

On the afternoon of August 15, Dr. Shi Xuequn and other plant protection experts came to the entrance of Baoping Village. As soon as they got off the bus, they were surrounded by farmers.

"look how well the new buds that were grafted last month are growing!" Villager Wang Qianlu enthusiastically held the hand of the historiography group and walked into his mango orchard. This mango orchard is well managed, with vibrant green leaves on its stout branches.

Villager Fu Enhong said that a few years ago, due to the serious aging and reduction of mango trees, people in the village were in a hurry, and now they were relieved with timely technical guidance from experts from Hainan University. Experts suggest that mango trees are grafted with new branches by "changing the crown", that is, cutting off the crown of mango trees and grafting high-quality fruit seedlings such as golden mango and Australian mango.

Wang Qianlu was the first to try to change the crown and seedling with the experts of Haida. "in July 2011, the trees in the orchard were cut bare and the villagers were 'startled'," he told reporters. " At first, the fruit growers were skeptical of this move, fearing that the fruit trees would be spoiled. Unexpectedly, a month later, the new buds grew gratifying, and the survival rate reached 90%. It began to bear fruit in the second year, and this year is already the third year. The improved mango tree is fruitful and its branches are bent, so it is necessary to set up a special shelf to bear fruit. Some fruit trees have an annual output of more than 50 kilograms per tree. Wang Qianlu has contracted 30 mu of land to grow mangoes, and his income this year has reached 320000 yuan.

"my family packed 120 mu of mango orchard. When the mango was the size of an egg, the buyer came to the door and pointed to the tree to order the mango." Hearing the news, the old man Wang Yunqing, who came to visit the experts, said, "Technology has propped up the waist for our farmers to get rich!"

Hu Xinwen, vice president of Hainan University, said: this year, Hainan University has allocated 2.5 million yuan to increase farmers' income to eliminate worries for experts to go to the fields and do practical work for farmers' income.

It is not alone for farmers in Baoping Township to increase their income with the help of the Provincial Department of Education and Haida. In Qiqi Town, Changjiang County, Nansheng Town, Wuzhishan City, Fanyang Town, Baoting County, Liugong Township. There are experts everywhere who help farmers improve their technology and engage in training.

In ancient times, barren soil became fertile soil, but now fertile soil becomes gold. The experts who helped the team said, "nothing can be happier than seeing the smiling faces of farmers."

A bridge of true love has been built between villages and colleges and universities. The reporter learned that at present, there are colleges and universities majoring in agriculture in our province and 24 secondary vocational colleges run by the province have all participated in practical activities to increase farmers' income.
