Opening words: due to the considerable economic benefits of special aquaculture, it is becoming more and more favored by farmers. Some farmers raise masked palm civet, some raise porcupine, sika deer, and some raise baby fish. Some farmers rely on special farming to get rich. However, restricted by the market, technology and other factors, some farmers encounter sales problems, and some are forced to change careers after losing money. In order to make the majority of farmers have a rational judgment and correct choice of this industry, this newspaper today launched a series of reports on "thinking about Special breeding Industry". Please pay attention.

In Quzhou's special aquaculture industry, Wang Longchang is a success.

One day in early November, the reporter came to Wu Village, Hecun Town, Jiangshan City, and saw several houses built on a small hillside, with many porcupines and masked palm civet in the houses, and dozens of yellow muntjac in another site where trees were planted.

"in my farm, the one with the largest number is masked palm civet, which has more than 1600 heads." Wang Longchang, head of the Rongchang special breeding family farm, told the reporter that the name of the farm used to be called the Rongchang Wildlife Farm in Jiangshan City, but it was only renamed this year.

After being laid off

Sell the hare.

Wang Longchang, 52, is from Santang Village, Hecun Town.

In 1979, he "took the post" to work in an enterprise under Jiangshan No.2 Light Bureau. After 1993, because the enterprise went bankrupt, Wang Longchang became a laid-off worker. "at that time, I only took two years' living expenses, and in order to make a living, I had to ride a tricycle with my wife." The hardship of life can be imagined. After a hard year, the couple only earn more than 10,000 yuan, which is only enough to cover their living expenses.

Later, Wang Longchang was introduced by a friend and started the business of buying hares. "at that time, a jin of hare in Jiangshan sold for only 1.5 yuan, while Ningbo sold it for five or six yuan," he said. " In the second half of the year, Wang Longchang went to the mountains to buy hares, and then sold them to Ningbo through friends, but he could earn 7,000 to 8,000 yuan after working for five or six months.

"I have rules in my business, and I have specially issued a license for the operation and utilization of wildlife." Wang Longchang said: if you do not apply for a certificate, it will be illegal. Operating wild animals for several years, Wang Longchang gradually figured out the market situation and set up a purchase point in Jiangshan city. "at present, this acquisition point is still in operation, and I mainly distribute the acquired wild animals to Guangdong, Hunan and other places." Because of the large sales volume, he can earn 300000 yuan a year.

There is a market

Just set up a farm.

After more than ten years of operation, Wang Longchang thought of farming himself because of the dwindling wildlife resources. In 2011, he transferred more than 50 mu of mountains to Wu Village, Hecun Town, and invested more than 1 million yuan to set up a Rongchang Wildlife Farm.

Before setting up breeding farms, Wang Longchang also specially visited special breeding farms in Hunan, Guangxi, Shanxi, Jiangxi and other places. In the first year, he bought dozens of porcupines and more than two hundred masked palm civet.

"Porcupine is bought from Fujian. A male and a female pig breed costs 5000 yuan." He said that porcupine mainly eats corn, masked palm civet eats pig feed and adds things like fishmeal and calcium powder, and yellow muntjac eats grass and corn.

Wild animals are highly resistant to disease and generally do not get sick as long as they are vaccinated. After patient breeding, now his farm, porcupine has raised more than 200. Although the yellow muntjac is more difficult to domesticate because it is timid and afraid of strangers, it bred 20 heads last year, with a total of more than 50. The largest number is masked palm civet, which has bred from more than 200 to more than 1600.

The reporter walked into the farm, but saw two two-story buildings full of masked palm civet, the first floor with bricks separated 70 small rooms, small rooms only 2 square meters but captive three or four masked palm civet. In another bungalow, a room of 16 square meters raised 25 masked palm civet. "these masked palm civet are female and are bigger, with about 10 jin at one end. They have just been introduced from Shanxi and will give birth next year." Wang Longchang said that one masked palm civet has one child a year, and one has three little masked palm civet.

"in the market, masked palm civet has been recognized by consumers and can sell as much as he can. Generally speaking, it is best to sell about 12 jin, and by the end of the year, one catty will be sold for 130 to 140 yuan. " Although Wang Longchang has bred more than 1600 masked palm civet, he is still reluctant to sell. At present, he is still focusing on expanding the scale of breeding, and this year he is building a house to raise masked palm civet.

Focus on the market

Aquaculture on demand

Wang Longchang analyzed that to engage in special aquaculture, it is necessary to choose what kind of animals to raise according to market demand. For example, the price of porcupine is good the year before last, but the price of commercial pig this year is average, selling 120 yuan per kilogram. This is mainly because the sales of porcupine on the market are not large, because the porcupine has a taste, and the consumer market has not been fully opened.

This year, he sold more than 50 porcupine, with an average price of 1600 yuan each. On the other hand, the yellow muntjac is generally raised to 10 kilograms on the market. "when it's expensive, it sells for 100 yuan a jin, but now it's only 60 yuan." Wang Longchang said that Huang Ji eats a lot of people and sells very well. His farm only has more than 50 yellow muntjac, in order to pursue large-scale breeding, Wang Longchang is also reluctant to sell, but also to breeding. "these quantities are not enough to sell." Wang Longchang said that the reason why he dared to breed on a large scale is mainly because there is a market and it is based on market demand. Nearly 20 years of experience in managing wild animals has enabled Wang Longchang to build a large sales network.

"one of the problems that farmers need to pay attention to is that it is necessary to apply for a 'wild animal domestication and breeding certificate' to raise wild animals." Wang Longchang spent eight months on this domestication certificate. And to run the largest special breeding farm in Jiangshan, so far, he has invested a total of 4.5 million yuan.
