Market: This year's "bull market" continues to "bull"

Since the beginning of this year, beef cattle breeding in Gejiu City has continued to maintain rapid growth. There are 50,900 beef cattle in the whole city, an increase of 33.19% compared with the same period last year; 10,400 beef cattle are exported, an increase of 55.55% compared with the same period last year; the price of live cattle reaches 28 yuan per kilogram, an increase of 21.7% compared with the same period last year; the price of beef is 64 yuan per kilogram, an increase of 12.3% compared with the same period last year.

The survey shows that at present, the price of beef per kilogram in Gejiu City exceeds 60 yuan, which is more than 20% higher than that of the same period last year. The profit of breeding a beef cattle is about 3500 yuan, and the breeding benefit is good.

Market forecast: Beef prices will continue to rise

"With the change of domestic environment, consumers are willing to spend money to buy high-quality and high-priced livestock products, especially herbivorous livestock products such as cattle and sheep, which has brought great impetus to beef cattle industry." Industry sources say that with the decline in word of mouth such as broilers and pigs, consumers are beginning to focus on beef and mutton, while high-quality beef products will usher in greater growth. Due to cost support and demand pull, beef prices will continue to run high for some time to come.

There are three reasons: one is increased demand. The change of people's consumption concept and dietary structure leads to the obvious increase of beef market demand. The pattern of beef market supply growth lagging behind the growth of household consumption will continue. Second, cattle breed slowly and grow in a long cycle. In addition, the state has few support policies for cattle. In the short term, beef cattle breeding will not grow rapidly, and beef supply will not have a big breakthrough. Third, feed prices rise, breeding costs increase, will drive prices continue to rise. Due to the shortage of beef, when the benefit is good, a large number of beef cattle and even cows are quickly sold by farmers to obtain high profits, resulting in insufficient number of breeding cows in Gejiu at present, and the source of cattle will be more tense.

Status quo: cattle craze

In Gejiu, raising pigs and poultry has always been traditional and popular. However, cattle farming has quietly emerged, and the scale of breeding has grown stronger and stronger unconsciously.

By the first quarter of this year, Gejiu City had 50,900 cattle and 10,400 beef cattle, three times more than 10 years ago. There are 27 large-scale cattle farmers with more than 50 beef cattle in Chengdu City, and nearly 10 large-scale cattle farms have been added from last year to the first quarter of this year alone.

The project has achieved remarkable results. Since Gejiu implemented the experimental demonstration project of planting grass and raising livestock in 2001 and the national implementation of the grassland ecological subsidy reward mechanism performance evaluation reward fund grassland animal husbandry production mode transformation project in 2012, some cattle farmers in Gejiu Laoyin Mountain project area have received state project fund support. By developing planting grass and raising livestock, improving infrastructure, strengthening breeding management and disease prevention and control, while expanding their breeding scale and effectiveness, It also drives the rapid development of cattle farmers in Laoyinshan area, and plays an active role in promoting and driving the development of cattle industry in Gejiu City.

At present, the construction of beef cattle breeding base and the development of beef jerky processing industry in Gejiu City have achieved initial results. A batch of standardized beef cattle breeding farms and processing enterprises have been completed and put into operation. The annual comprehensive output value of beef cattle breeding and beef product processing in the whole city has reached more than 500 million yuan.

Market demand drives the rapid development of cattle industry. Due to the high price and good benefit of beef and strong market demand in recent years, the number of large-scale cattle farmers and professional cattle breeding cooperatives in Gejiu City has been increasing constantly, which has promoted the large-scale and standardized breeding process of beef cattle industry. Gejiu City is making every effort to build a beef cattle industry pattern of "providing cattle source in the southern mountainous area, processing products in the northern dam area, and supporting from multiple points and aspects", building a circular economy of planting high-quality forage grass represented by the southern mountainous area and making full use of straw to raise cattle, and a beef jerky processing industry economy represented by Shadian in the northern dam area, and vigorously developing beef cattle industry.
