Recently, the autonomous region launched the action project for the promotion of modern grassland animal husbandry in southern Guangxi for the first time. If the application is successful, each project will receive a financial subsidy ranging from 90 to 1.7 million yuan. As of the 22nd, there are only three units in Yulin City that meet the requirements for the project, namely, Guangxi Yibao Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., Beiliu, a professional cooperative for breed cattle breeding in Shengye, and Guiniu Buffalo Milk Co., Ltd., Guangxi Yulin City, Bobai. The reporter learned that at present, the average price of beef in Yulin City is still high at 30 yuan per jin, and more and more farmers are optimistic about the development prospects of beef cattle breeding and plan to enter the "bull market" one after another, but due to lack of funds, geographical conditions and other reasons, the development is very slow.

There are very few units in Yulin that meet the requirements for project declaration.

According to the staff of the Animal Husbandry Department of the Municipal Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Bureau, the application subjects of the action project for promoting modern grassland animal husbandry in southern Guangxi are agricultural and animal husbandry enterprises and breeding cooperatives engaged in beef cattle and mutton sheep breeding registered in Guangxi according to law, and the main operators must be legal and standardized, in line with the requirements of environmental protection. At the same time, there are strict regulations on livestock raising: the stock of beef cattle and mutton sheep in agricultural and animal husbandry enterprises should reach more than 240head and 1200 (equivalent to 1200 sheep units) respectively by the end of June 2014. the stock of beef cattle and mutton sheep in farming cooperatives should reach more than 160,800 (equivalent to 1200 sheep units) by the end of June 2014. In addition, agricultural and animal husbandry enterprises should also have more than 5000 mu of relatively concentrated contracted transfer grasslands, while farming cooperatives require more than 3000 mu, and their infrastructure and production and operation conditions are good in order to meet the requirements for declaration. At present, among the beef cattle breeding cooperatives and agricultural and animal husbandry enterprises in Yulin City, there are very few beef cattle stocks of more than 100, and few contracted transfer grasslands of more than 3000 mu, so that only three units meet the requirements for declaration.

For example, the qualified Guangxi Yibao Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. is located in Shuian Village, Minle Town, Beiliu City. At present, it has contracted more than 7000 mu of grassland, including 200 dairy buffaloes and 125 yellow cattle. The company's general factory and branch plants are located in mountainous and hilly areas, and there are no crops within a few hundred meters, so it is suitable for cattle to find food. The grasslands are also contracted and cultivated by themselves, mainly distributed in the towns of Liuma and Minan.

Although the "bull market" is good, it faces many difficulties.

Why are there so few beef cattle farms in Yulin? The reporter visited and learned that although many farmers are optimistic about the prospect of the cattle industry, it is not easy to expand the cattle industry.

Shizheng Village, Xiaopingshan Town, Xingye County is located in the high mountain area of Darong Mountain, with many clouds and fog, high humidity, abundant rainfall, easy for grassland growth and rich forage, which is very suitable for the development of cattle industry, but at present, the village has only raised about 200 cattle sporadically, and the scale of breeding has not gone up all the time. In this regard, Mr. Yang, a villager, believes that although Shizheng Village is suitable for raising cattle, in order to avoid disrupting normal agricultural production, it can only be grazed in high mountains. It takes 40-60 minutes to climb to the mountain where the cattle are active, and sometimes it takes a day to manage the cattle. I can't even eat lunch. In autumn and winter, the grass withered, forage was scarce, and cattle would look for forage everywhere, making it more difficult to graze. Due to the high price of beef cattle, the phenomenon of cattle theft also occurs frequently, and tens of thousands of yuan will be lost if you are not careful. In addition, the cost of buying a calf weighing more than 100 jin costs 3000-4000 yuan, and the shortage of funds and the lack of policy support also lead to the inability to expand breeding.

Uncle Niu, who has been in the cattle industry since 2009, has raised nearly 300 cattle. Although he has always wanted to expand the scale, it is difficult to break through because a large amount of money is needed for introducing calves to breed and is limited by the source of forage. "although there are relevant subsidy policies for the breeding industry at present, there are basically no ones for the cattle industry." Uncle Niu said.

The lack of funds and geographical conditions are the main reasons.

Chen, secretary of the Municipal Aquatic and Animal Husbandry Association, analyzed that cattle are herbivorous mammals and need a lot of forage to feed. At the same time, the breeding cycle of cattle is long, which is not as strong as the reproductive ability of domestic animals such as pigs, chickens and ducks. usually a cow can only give birth to one calf a year, which leads to a long market cycle and a long cycle of harvest benefits. At present, the relevant policy support is mainly aimed at the large-scale cattle industry similar to the northern grassland pastures, and it is difficult for the cattle industry in Yulin City to expand production in this environment.

In addition, the hilly Mesa of Yulin City accounts for 49.4% of the city's area, mountains account for 33%, plains and basins account for only 17.4%, and there are no natural pastures. Industry insiders said that at present, the pastures in Yulin City mainly rely on artificial cultivation, and the cultivation of pasture grasslands requires flat, moist, solid land, while Yulin City has many mountains, and the grassland cultivation is difficult and inefficient. In autumn, the grass withered, forage storage is difficult, and the cost is high. It generally requires 600 yuan / ton for forage storage in autumn and 700 yuan for freight, which greatly increases the breeding cost.

However, it is gratifying that targeted measures to promote the cattle industry have been introduced one after another recently. The relevant staff of the Municipal Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Bureau said that the asset mortgage loan policy for live animals has been implemented, which makes it convenient for farmers to increase circulation funds in the production process. At the same time, cattle farmers are advised to carry out cattle breed improvement. at present, there is a cattle breed improvement project in Yulin City every year. Cattle farmers can go to the local aquatic animal husbandry site with ID cards, household registration books and relevant valid documents to collect frozen semen for cattle breed improvement. In order to improve the performance and physical fitness of cattle, form a new improved breed of cattle system, and promote the development of cattle industry. (see Xi reporter Yang Chuanxia)
