In July 2014, three students from the School of Printing and Packaging Engineering of Xi'an University of Technology investigated the quantity, species and distribution of wild vegetable resources in Baoji City, Hanzhong City and Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. With the development of social economy and the improvement of people's living standards, people pay more and more attention to diet health and nutrition, and the demand for vegetables changes from quantity type to quality type, to the direction of nutrition, diversity, high quality, up-to-date, fine and pollution-free.

Although China has a vast territory, a wide variety of wild vegetables and rich resources, the development and utilization of edible wild vegetables is only about 3%, resulting in a great waste. The taste of many consumers is returning to naturalization, and the demand for natural wild vegetables is increasing. therefore, the development and utilization of wild vegetables is to put these neglected precious resources back into use and is the concentrated embodiment of sustainable development. has a huge market potential.

In this survey, we mainly investigate the species, quantity and distribution of wild vegetables in some areas of Shaanxi Province, as well as the awareness of farmers and urban residents about wild vegetables, in order to understand its utilization and development. In a short period of two weeks, our three students went to Majiabao Village, Pucheng County, Baoji City, Changxing Village, Mei County, Baoji City, and Jizhai Village, Mianxian County, Hanzhong City. Mainly through on-the-spot observation, questionnaire survey, interview survey and literature survey, we conducted a stratified sampling survey in different areas of different groups (including the elderly, middle-aged and young people), and found a large number of related literature and materials at home and abroad. Through the combination of practice and analysis, the accuracy of the final data is maximized.

In the course of the investigation, we also received a general reflection from the public: the climate in the southern region is humid, the environment is mild, and the wild vegetable resources are very rich, but because there are few local special departments for the purchase of wild vegetables, most of the wild vegetables are left unmanaged and wasted, including valuable medicinal materials such as parsley, burdock and fennel. Therefore, the results of this survey can provide reliable data on the species, quantity and distribution of wild vegetables for local wild vegetable supply and marketing organizations, and serve as a reference for the subsequent establishment of supply and demand channels of wild vegetables to solve people's problems; it can also be used as material for relevant people to write works on local customs and customs, increase the authenticity of the works and reflect people's livelihood. At the same time, in the whole process of project planning and implementation, this practical activity has also cultivated our college students' sense of innovation, improved our research ability and comprehensive quality, and exercised college students' communication skills and the ability to deal with various problems.
