First case this year! Chinese live abalone is illegally transported without passing inspection. It is stopped by relevant units and sent to Food and Drug Administration by Taoyuan City Health Bureau for punishment according to violation of Food Safety and Sanitation Management Law. If there is illegal trafficking, the maximum penalty will be 20 times the market price.

Liu Shaoyi, deputy captain of the Keelung Investigation Team of the Maritime Inspection Agency, said on the 24th that a few days ago, the special case team grasped that a certain aquatic product line in Kaohsiung was unreasonable and chose Taipei Port with higher transportation costs to import 800 kilograms of live abalone from the mainland of China. It was suspected that it might have to be distributed along the road from north to south. Therefore, it was traced together with the Food and Drug Administration and the Food and Drug Administration Department of the Health Bureau of Taoyuan City Government. Sure enough, this batch of live abalone that did not pass the inspection was illegally moved. Fortunately, it did not flow into the market.

Liu Shaoyi explained that after fresh food enters the customs, because the inspection time will be more than 3 days, the conditions for customs storage of goods may not meet the needs of the operator, so the operator can apply for "release first", the goods will be placed in the designated refrigerated place for sealing, wait for the inspection to pass, after obtaining the import certificate of conformity, can be opened and transported to other places. In this case, the operator did not deliver the live abalone to the registration place of "release first," and some of them were transported to the warehouse of Taoyuan City Park for storage. Therefore, the special case team, together with the Food and Drug Administration and the Taoyuan City Health Bureau, inspected the site and seized 174.98 kg of live abalone. It has violated the provisions of the Food Safety Law and moved the live abalone without inspection.

Huang Shuhui, director of food and drug management science and technology of Taoyuan City Health Bureau, said that because the storage location is in Taoyuan City, he recently cooperated with the special team of the Coast Guard Administration and the Food and Drug Administration to assist in the investigation. The industry claimed that it was temporarily stored. Since the whole case has been referred to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it will be up to the FDA to decide whether the operator has violated the "release by recognizance" rule or whether the facts of the sale have been established.

The Keelung Investigation Team of the Coast Guard Bureau appealed to the public not to smuggle or sell uninspected agricultural and fishery products, so as not to violate the law and endanger the safety and health of citizens. If the public finds illegal matters, they can use the 188 Marine Patrol Service Line at any time to report illegal matters and jointly safeguard domestic food safety.
