The agate red made the local people rich quickly. All kinds of farmhouses, broiling pots, barbecue stalls, restaurants, leisure and entertainment places abound. Every household has built new houses and bought cars. In July 1986, Xu Fujun graduated from Qianxinan Agricultural School majoring in horticulture and was subsequently assigned to work in the Agricultural, Industrial and Commercial Resources Development Company of the County Agricultural Bureau. Out of professional sensitivity, Xu Fujun consulted a lot of information with great excitement and enthusiasm and determined that this was a variant plant, so he came up with the idea of using this variant plant to cultivate a new cherry variety. He carefully watched the cherry plants grow and change like a baby, carefully observing and recording them. A new cherry variety-agate red cherry was bred gradually by clone propagation and planting at different altitudes through experiment, demonstration and popularization. Approved by Crop Variety Committee of Guizhou Province in December 2011.

Agate red cherries are delicious, but the market has to decide. In 2004, Xu Fujun took agate red cherry samples to Guiyang for trial sale and was bought by a hotel at a high price of 16 yuan per kilogram.

After coming back, he was confident and began to expand the planting area of agate red cherry. In July 2006, he registered Nayong County Wanshou agate red cherry Co., Ltd., which is dedicated to seedling cultivation, planting, sales and research and development of agate red cherry.
