"yesterday is like snow, today is like snow; mountain cherry is like beauty, beauty is easy to rest." Banshan Village, Huafeng Town, Hua'an County, was originally a remote and inconvenient mountain village, but in recent years it has become famous for a large number of villagers introducing cherry blossoms in Taiwan's Alishan Mountain. Not only do many people come a long way to buy flowers and seedlings, and it is always full of tourists during the flower season.
Huang Biyong, 40, is the first person in Banshan Village to plant cherry blossoms. He has been working on this hillside for 15 years. Speaking of cherry blossoms, Huang Biyong's memory is still fresh. In 2000, a Taiwanese flower farmer surnamed Zhu came to Hua'an to invest in flowers and seedlings. Huang Biyong became acquainted with him after being introduced by a friend. At that time, every time the Taiwanese flower farmer came to Hua'an, Huang Biyong entertained him and went out to play, all accompanied by him and guide, so the two gradually established a profound friendship. Huang Biyong said, "that Taiwanese friend gave me ten jin of cherry blossom seeds and repeatedly told me that I must plant them. At that time, I didn't know these varieties at all, and my friends in Taiwan encouraged me to say that in another five or ten years, your cherry blossoms would be great, and business would certainly be 'hot'. "
It is understood that at that time, Banshan Village had a lot of land resources, and the land cost only a few yuan per mu, so Huang Biyong followed the advice of his friends in Taiwan and began to plant cherry blossoms. Everything was difficult at the beginning. When Huang Biyong put a lot of time and energy into working in the mountains, his wife and children did not understand him very well, complained from time to time, and many villagers often poured cold water on him. But Huang Biyong always maintained a plain and down-to-earth state of mind and worked conscientiously. "at that time, many people were not optimistic about it. They thought that the saplings I planted could only be cut down and burned with firewood," says Huang Biyong. "I just told them that it doesn't matter. At least we should be beautiful, the ecology is good, and we look comfortable."
Sure enough, the cherry blossom seeds from Alishan in Taiwan did not disappoint Huang Piyong. The survival rate is very high and they are growing very fast. He said, "our elevation, humidity, and climate are all the same as those in Taiwan. Bright red, double petal, and eight-fold cherry." We can grow most of the cherry blossoms in Taiwan. For example, because the climate in Japan is too cold, we can't grow Japanese white varieties here. "
Cherry blossom red, business is "hot". As predicted by his friends in Taiwan, since 2006, Huang Biyong's cherry blossom business has indeed developed very well in recent years, with more orders and good sales, and his planting scale has become larger and larger. In addition to the more than 20 mu of cherry blossom garden here in Banshan Village, he also rented more than 700 mu of land to plant cherry blossoms and other trees in Bijia Mountain, Jiekou Farm, Shajian Town. Over the past five or six years, he has also planted more than 10 kinds of seedlings of Taiwan varieties, such as Beauty Tree, Abler, Golden blueberry, and Yoren lobules. But Huang Biyong said frankly that the best sellers are cherry saplings. He said: "I have cultivated more than 1 million cherry blossom seedlings this year. Recently, a customer ordered 20 or 300000 cherry blossoms for me, which is still quite large."
"frequent updating of varieties is the key." Huang Biyong is now not only cultivating cherry blossom seedlings, but also actively renewing and introducing more cherry blossom varieties, and promoting local eco-tourism and farm music industries. Although Huang Biyong has been successful in drinking water, he often feels grateful for the Taiwanese friends who brought him seeds and keeps in touch with them to exchange needed goods. He said, "without friends from Taiwan who bring these varieties, there will be no wealth and renewal on our side."
