Another year of blueberry picking season, located in Xiaoying Town, Yanji City, Jilin Province, Helong Village roadside blueberry base ushered in a group of picking tourists, lively and warm. There is a tanned, emaciated middle-aged man, happy in the eyes, he is the person in charge of this blueberry base-Liang Changyou.

Liang Changyou's blueberry base was built in early 2013 and covers an area of more than 70 mu. Among them, 40 mu are used for planting more than 10 varieties of blueberries, such as Ruika, Black Pearl, etc., and more than 100000 mature blueberry trees and more than 1 million seedlings have been planted, which is gratifying and has formed large-scale production. During the picking season, Liang Changyou's blueberry base sells nearly 150kg of blueberries a day, with a peak of 1000 kg. However, few people know that, in fact, this was once a barren sand, Liang Changyou in order to transform it into Yanbian's first blueberry base, paid too much hardship and sweat.

In 2013, Liang Changyou returned to Yanji confidently, carrying the blueberry planting technology he had accumulated in Dalian for six years. He contracted this sandy land full of corn and started his entrepreneurial journey. It was March, and the snow was up to my knees. Every day before dawn, Liang Changyou harvested the straw alone with a sickle, worked for a long time, straightened up, and could not tell whether it was snow or sweat.

If you want to grow blueberries well, land is the key. Liang Changyou spent 3 million yuan accumulated in his early years of business to buy peat soil for soil improvement. As the blueberry base is on the hillside and the underlying soil is sandy, it is difficult to store water, so Liang Changyou dug a reservoir on the hillside and introduced it into the nearby river. In order to have enough pressure to pump up the water to irrigate the ground, he even used a fire water gun.

In order to cultivate pollution-free blueberries, Liang Changyou also raised more than 300 native chickens in the base, which specialize in eating insects in blueberry trees, which is equivalent to an "ecological pest control" method. Blueberries do not need pesticides and will not suffer from insect pests. When the native chicken grows up, he sells it at 80 yuan each, and he can earn another 20,000 yuan a year, which can be said to kill two birds with one stone.

Because of his excellent technology and meticulous care, Liang Changyou's blueberries were planted and produced fruit that year. On June 16, 2013, Liang Changyou's Lujian Agricultural Blueberry Cooperative officially opened a garden to welcome visitors.

Since April 2015, Liang Changyou has not returned to his home in the city for a single day, living in the blueberry base every day, taking good care of each blueberry plant. Liang Changyou told reporters: blueberries are nutritious and are known as the "king of berries", but to me, blueberries are like their own children, even better than relatives. At this time, Liang Changyou lost the fortitude of a man, and his eyes were full of love and expectation.

At present, Liang Changyou's cooperative not only grows blueberries, but also grows melons, tomatoes, potatoes, beans and other fruits and vegetables covering an area of 30 mu for tourists to pick, and invests a lot of money to build outdoor "restaurants" to cook delicious food for tourists. Liang Changyou hopes to provide tourists with a richer and healthier play experience by creating an one-stop "farm music".
