Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Zhang Honghong, a worker of the 64 regiment, was busy getting rich in the jujube garden.

On October 9th, the author walked into the red jujube garden of the seventh company of the 64 regiment of the fourth division of the production and construction regiment. At a glance, he saw many fresh, sweet and crisp brown jujubes hanging all over the branches, just like a string of Tomatoes on sticks, looking at the full fruit. The mature fruit, Zhang Hong was immersed in the joy of harvest. In the interview, Zhang Hong held up the red jujube that was drying and said: "the jujube I planted is large and uniform, good-looking and high in sugar content. It is expected to produce about 500 kilograms per mu. Now, the jujube has been ordered by Yili and Qingshui merchants at a price of 30 yuan per kilogram."

In 2003, Zhang Hong, who worked in Shenzhen and returned to his hometown in southern Xinjiang, saw that more than 200 mu of jujube garden planted by his brother was eager to employ people, so he volunteered to help his brother manage the jujube orchard. In several years of study and practice, he has accumulated a wealth of jujube planting experience. He came up with the idea of growing his own red dates, but he suffered from the lack of arable land.

In 2010, due to the fate of marriage, Zhang Hong came to the 64 regiment 7 companies and contracted 15 mu of wasteland to plant red dates. In the planting of red jujube, he built a 15-mu red jujube orchard by direct seeding of jujube seeds and grafting the following year according to his accumulated experience over the years. During the grafting of jujube, Junzao, a variety resistant to cold, drought and salt, was selected, and cotton was interplanted in the jujube forest. After a year of meticulous work and scientific management, the per unit yield of cotton reached 300 kg at the end of the year, making up for all the expenses without income in the first year.

In the interview, Zhang Hong said: red jujube planting, there is no requirement in the soil quality, red jujube is very adaptable, long growth cycle, quick results, labor-saving, time-saving, one person can manage more than 20 mu of garden land.

The following year, Zhang Hong's jujube tree began to hang fruit, but it didn't work out. In June, a severe flood washed down a Diwa tree where his jujube seedlings were washed down, and most of the jujube seedlings were buried. Looking at the dying jujube seedlings devastated by the flood, Zhang Hong, undaunted, took his wife to clean up the silt, dig up the drowned seedlings and replant them; in his management, he weeded in time and opened ditches in advance to beat the seeds. At the same time, he insisted on timely watering and applying urea to ensure the normal use of fertilizer and water for newly planted jujube seedlings; through his unremitting efforts for a year, the jujube orchard was restored to its former vitality.

"every flower in a crop depends on fertilizer." Zhang Hong pays special attention to scientific management in tree pruning and organic fertilizer delivery. He said: "every autumn, I fertilize the jujube according to 3 square farm manure per mu and 30 kilograms of compound fertilizer. If the land is fertilized, the nutrients are enough, the quality of the jujube will be good, and the merchants will like it at first glance." Under Zhang Hong's careful management, the output value of his 15 mu red jujube land reached 40,000 yuan in 2013, which gave Zhang Hong the confidence to continue to work on the red jujube.

In order to achieve a high yield and harvest of red jujube, Zhang Hong fumbled out a set of unique production and management technology of red jujube by flipping through a large number of scientific and technological materials, listening to experts' explanations, subscribing to scientific and technological newspapers and periodicals, visiting and studying, and combining with years of practice. In the winter of 2014, the party branch of the 7th Company arranged for Zhang Hong to teach the staff and workers the planting experience of red dates at the company's "Science and Technology Winter" training course. So without reservation, with easy-to-understand language, fresh and vivid examples, combined with his own practical experience, he explained patiently and meticulously for the staff of the whole company, so that the "secret books" were shared and achieved good results.

When the author asked about the sales of red dates this year, Zhang Hong said: "Last year, there was continuous rain before picking red dates, resulting in serious fruit cracking, resulting in a reduction in jujube production, low prices and poor sales, and only earned more than 20,000 yuan." This year, my red jujube failed in May, a month earlier than others. In the past, some businessmen came to see that at the price of 15 yuan per kilogram, they had purchased more than 1 ton of fresh dates, while others were not in a hurry to buy them. Because of the high temperature and moisture in the early stage, red dates were easy to deteriorate, and they had to wait for Frosts Descent to buy them later to improve the quality of red dates. "

Zhang Hong, who has received good benefits, is full of confidence in planting characteristic red dates. Next year, he plans to expand the scale of the jujube garden and build a self-drying room to improve the quality, so as to increase the value and efficiency of red dates after deep processing. In the interview, Zhang Hong said: in the next step, we are going to build a drying room to improve our production and processing quality. under the current and future prospects, our red jujube industry still has a development trend. because this red jujube has a wide range of uses, we will continue to make this jujube bigger and stronger.
