At the mention of Tibetan fragrant pig, this rural man who didn't talk much immediately opened the chatterbox: by chance, he learned that Tibetan fragrant pig, combined with the geographical advantages of many mountains, high altitude and good grass vegetation in the village, after careful thinking and investigation, he decided to breed Tibetan fragrant pig. He went to Xizang three times successively. Due to lack of experience, 29 young Tibetan pigs purchased in the first two times died on the road, and more than 200,000 yuan was lost. But that didn't make the stubborn man, who had been a soldier, flinch. After analyzing the reasons and consulting experts, he drove to Xizang for the third time. 32 pigs, all the way to stop and go to the pig "decompression", a month later finally safely home. Due to improper feeding, acclimatization and other reasons, 3 days after arriving at home, some died, and finally lived 19 piglets. After Zhang Chenggao and his family carefully raised, more than a year sow began to give birth. Tibetan Xiang pigs have strong reproductive ability. One sow breeds 2 litters a year, each litter generally has 7 to 8 heads, and the survival rate is more than 95%. At present, its scale has reached more than 2000.

"Tibetan pigs eat grass for a living. There are more than 100 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines such as dandelion and bupleurum on this mountain. Dr. Wang Fengshan, who studies Chinese herbal medicines from Shandong Medical University, has also specially visited it. Tibetan pigs eat these herbs rich in Chinese herbs and never get sick." Zhang Chenggao introduced said.

Bring rich people and create regional brands

Because it is free-range and grows up by eating grass, Tibetan fragrant pigs have low fat content, delicious meat and rich nutrition, which are favored by customers and often in short supply. There are two reasons for analysis, one is slow output, the other is good meat quality. "Other pigs are sold in four months, and my Tibetan pigs are sold in a year and a half. At present, the price of each breeding pig cub is 3000 yuan, and the pork is 58 yuan per catty. I have 2000 pigs, and it's not a problem for me to earn more than 2 million yuan a year." Tibetan Xiang pig breeding has been successful, but as the village director of Jieyu Village, Zhang Chenggao feels that he can't make money by himself, but also leads the villagers to become rich. Therefore, in 2011, it took the lead in establishing Dongcheng Tibetan Xiang Pig Breeding Cooperative, with more than 200 members and 5 member units, with a total of more than 8000 Tibetan Xiang pigs. With the increase of popularity, Tibetan fragrant pigs also attract people from Binzhou, Liaocheng and other places. At least 30 units come to learn scriptures every year.

Speaking of future development, Zhang Chenggao is full of confidence: "At present, we have established a breeding base for purebred Tibetan Xiang pigs, and are cooperating with Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other colleges to study and create regional characteristic brands of Yangxiang pigs, striving to become bigger and stronger." He said that relying on the production mode of "cooperative + base + farmer household," the base will provide farmers with one-stop services such as piglet and breeding technology, and Tibetan fragrant pigs will be recovered by cooperatives after they are adults, so as to build a Tibetan fragrant pig breeding brand base integrating breeding, deep processing and sales, so as to drive more people to raise pigs and become rich.
