Most parents hope that their children can find a stable job in the city after graduating from college, and Qin Meiling's parents are no exception. But after graduating from university, she became a university student village official in Jinjiaping Village, Gaojia Town, and propped up her own and even the whole Jinjiaping Village's "dream" with more than 200 mu of land and more than 200 steel frames.

A fire inspires entrepreneurial enthusiasm

Strawberries are originally a fruit in spring and summer, but recently, the author tasted fresh strawberries in Jinjiaping Village, Gaojia Town. In a neat row of greenhouses, ruddy strawberries hung on the branches, with crystal dewdrops rolling on them.

This orchard full of grapes, watermelons and strawberries is the biggest dream in Qin Meiling's heart, but the cause of this "dream" is because of a fire.

When Qin Meiling first arrived in Jinjiaping Village in the summer of 2012, she was suffering from high temperature and drought, which could easily cause fire. People often say, "whatever you are afraid of." in the second month of her arrival in Murakami, a fire broke out in the village. "it was an old man who was cooking at home. When the meal was ready, he forgot to put out the fire, lit the firewood in front of the stove, and because it was dry, the fire spread and burned the nearby area." Recalling the fire, Qin Meiling still had a lingering fear. Although it did not cause any casualties, it left a shadow in Qin Meiling's heart. "after the fire, the neighbors in the village came to help except the old and the children, and there was almost no sign of the young. Only then did they feel afraid. The old people were inconvenient and ran slowly. In case of natural and man-made disasters, can they still be so lucky?" Crouching in the strawberry greenhouse, Qin Meiling told me, "at that time, I wanted to start an industry that could lead to dozens or even hundreds of jobs and attract more young people to come back to the village." As soon as the idea of "starting a business" emerges, it is like a seed buried in the soil. With the passage of time, it sprouts and grows slowly, and finally takes root in the heart.

Do not regret or give up in the face of setbacks

"the young people in the village went out to work and a lot of land was left idle, so I wondered if I could make a fuss on it." Qin Meiling said that after the Spring Festival in 2013, Qin Meiling put her ideas into action and transferred more than 150 mu of land with Hu Sanzhong, which wanted to develop melon and fruit cultivation in Gaojia Town, to grow grapes and develop sightseeing picking. And registered to establish a "Fengdu County widely known as melon and fruit professional cooperative."

Qin Meiling is a typical city girl who loves to laugh and dress up. If she hadn't seen her walking through the strawberry greenhouse in her rain boots, it would be difficult to connect her with this orchard. "We just want to develop this orchard to a certain scale that can accommodate 100 people to work, so that we can attract more young people who go out to work to come back and take care of the elderly and children at home while building their hometown." Qin Meiling said.

In order to realize her dream, Qin Meiling invested a lot of energy in the orchard. Having never worked as a farmer, she would soak in the orchard whenever she had time, learning from the villagers how to dig, plant, fertilize and weed.

Being busy with work and taking care of the orchard, Qin Meiling sometimes feels that the burden on her shoulders is too heavy. Fortunately, watching the grape seedlings grow up and hang fruit day by day, the exhaustion was swept away.

It is said that the planting industry depends on heaven to eat, and when Qin Meiling's wishes come true and are content to prepare for a big fight, the drought that happens once in 40 years makes her suffer a lot. "there was a sense of frustration when the grapes, which were already slowly turning red, were dried in a large area after a rare drought last June." Qin Meiling said that in the face of drought, her heart was filled with fear and worry that she would fail in her first business, and even more afraid that the villagers would be disappointed in themselves.

Thinking of the fire and the lonely old people left behind in the village, Qin Meiling told herself that she must not fail. Together with village cadres, she looked everywhere for water, and she also learned the method of water-saving irrigation online, and finally brought the drought under control.

Stick to the dream and finally usher in the dawn.

At the insistence of Qin Meiling, in 2013, the orchard produced more than 30,000 jin of grapes and sold more than 300,000 yuan, making a good start. In 2014, 45000 jin of fruit was produced and sold for more than 500,000 yuan.

This year, Qin Meiling transferred another 60 mu of wasteland, planted new grape varieties and strawberries, and through out-of-season planting and improved varieties in the greenhouse, strawberries were put on the market ahead of time, so that citizens can eat fresh and delicious strawberries in winter. "you see, the strawberry seedlings outside are just a little higher, and the ones inside the greenhouse are already hanging fruit. They can be officially put on the market at about New Year's Day's Festival, and the picking can last until May this year." Qin Meiling said that because strawberries are "rare" this season, they are expected to sell for 50 yuan a kilogram.

Up to now, Qin Meiling's "extensive melon and fruit professional cooperative" has attracted 37 farmers to join the cooperative, with as many as 40 workers working in the orchard all the year round, and 17 migrant workers returning from other places.

In November last year, with more than 200 mu of orchards, Qin Meiling won the second prize in the fifth "Entrepreneurship Cup" independent entrepreneurship competition in our county. "We university student village officials go to the grass-roots level to do practical work for the villagers and lead more villagers to shake off poverty and become rich." Qin Meiling said that her dream is being realized bit by bit, and Jinjiaping Village will reap fruitful results in the near future.
