In Jiyeke Village, Karabra Town, Xinyuan County, Yili, Jia Keqing was mentioned, and no one knew it. The reason why Jia Keqing is famous is that he combines planting and breeding, develops the economy under the forest, and has achieved good economic benefits.

His practices and ideas, in the current rural areas, can provide reference for more farmers who can not find a way out.

When they came to Jia Keqing's orchard, more than 300 geese had full feathers and strong physique, and the pheasants in the cages next to them had grown to half their size. These are more than 400 pheasants ready to supply the Spring Festival market.

In 2008, he took advantage of the town government's good policy of encouraging the development of economic forests to plant all his 15 mu grain land with apple trees, and then raised chickens and geese under the fruit trees.

Jia Keqing, 63, was the first person to succeed in the local attempt at the forest economy.

"raising geese under the forest can not only create economic value, but also realize the ecological cycle. Feed is saved by eating grass in the forest. Besides grass for fruit trees, chicken dung can also fatten the forest. It is really killing two birds with one stone." Looking at the geese and local chickens foraging freely in the woods, Jia Keqing looked very happy.

"keeping small animals is my old job." Jia Keqing said that he has loved raising small animals since he was a child, has been a farmer all his life, and has accumulated a lot of experience in raising chickens and geese.

He said that these geese themselves are Sichuan white geese. In order to adapt to the environment, they have always laid their own eggs and hatched their own goose fry, so as to save costs and improve the rate of finished products.

Pheasants were bought from a farmer in Xinyuan Town in 2011. At that time, 50 chickens were bought. After raising them for more than a month, only five were left, and all the rest died.

Undiscouraged, Jia Keqing continued to look for the answer to the question, and after gradually groping, he finally found the cause of the chicken seedling's death.

After finding out the reason, Jia Keqing had a number in mind when he raised pheasants. After continuous incubation and breeding, now he produces more than 800 pheasants every year, and the pheasant's growth cycle is five months. In this way, the tourism market will be supplied in the first half of the year, and the Spring Festival market in the second half of the year. Because there are many years of raising chickens and geese, now there is no need to advertise. Sitting at home can sell out the products.

"the chicken farms are mainly pheasants, with Sichuan white geese, Yili gray geese and rural native chickens." Jia Keqing said that the choice of varieties should take full account of the market and raise what is needed.

"Scientific farming is the key to getting rich." Jia Keqing said that in order to prevent chickens from getting sick, he bought back a large number of books on raising chickens to study attentively, watching the growth of chickens at any time, and constantly groping and summing up the techniques of raising chickens.

As he raised rare pheasants, coupled with out-and-out native chickens, residents and restaurants in Xinyuan County came to buy, and attracted customers from Yining City to order.

According to 200 yuan per pair of pheasants, 400 pairs have a gross income of 80000 yuan, and more than 300 geese can earn about 30000 yuan, which adds up to much more cost-effective than ordinary farmers going out to work.

Talking about his plans for the future, Jia Keqing said that at present, many villagers have also sprouted the idea of raising chickens under the forest, but they suffer from the lack of professional skills. Next, Jia Keqing wants to use his own technology to drive his neighbors to raise chickens together and get rich together.
