He is Zhu Yueming, chairman of Zhangye Wanhe Grass and Animal Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd., and director of Zhangye Comprehensive Test Station of National Beef cattle and Yak Industrial Technology system. The farm he founded, covering an area of 6500 mu, has built 22 standardized double-row barns, 9 forage silage ammoniation ponds, 1900 square meters of warehouses and feed processing workshops, 8000 beef cattle and 15000 beef cattle. It is the largest demonstration enterprise for beef cattle breeding and standardized breeding in the city. From a layman to a veritable animal husbandry expert, he spent 27 years practicing the ideal of becoming rich through science and technology and leading people in his hometown to start a business and run a well-off life.

Zhu Yueming, 53, was originally a recruiting cadre at the Changan Township Economic Committee. His insipid life gave him the idea of starting a business. In 1988, 25-year-old Zhu Yueming gave up his job and embarked on the road of starting a business. After several years of working accumulation, in 1997, Zhu Yueming began to raise sheep in his backyard, from the initial dozens to hundreds, gradually gaining scale. In 2002, he found that the area of Shigangdun barren beach is vast and suitable for breeding. in order to expand the scale, Zhu Yueming began to develop 1100 mu of barren beach and registered Zhangye Wanhe Grass and Livestock Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd., raising more than 2200 mutton sheep, and was included in the agricultural science and technology breeding demonstration farm supported by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2004.

The good times did not last long, in 2006, affected by the market, mutton sheep breeding declined, a year down, almost lost all the previous capital accumulation. My colleagues who came together to reclaim the wasteland and engage in breeding have run away, and I am the only one left. If I give up, my life will be over, and I can only grit my teeth and move on. Zhu Yueming recalled. At the moment of life and death, Zhu Yueming's two younger brothers, who used to work in the bank, gave up their jobs to join the company's team. With the support of the family and the injection of funds from the younger brother to buy out the length of service, the company has new hopes for development.

Failure is the mother of success. With the lessons of previous failures, Zhu Yueming concluded that the investment in beef cattle farming is large but relatively small due to market fluctuations, and having its own pasture will reduce breeding costs, so the company decided to start raising beef cattle and reclaim a large area of wasteland to grow grass and livestock. In 2007, Zhu Yueming and his team expanded the scale of breeding while building a grass and livestock base. The construction speed of Wanhe Grass and Livestock Industry Co., Ltd. is fast, and it was built and put into production that year. At the same time, the farm has a high degree of standardization, reasonable planning and layout, and complete hardware facilities. It has been identified as the leading enterprise for the development of beef cattle in the city, and also provides an experimental platform for the experimental research of the beef cattle industry. After two years of hard work and development, the company's breeding scale is getting larger and larger. In 2008, it was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance as the supporting unit of "Zhangye Comprehensive Test Station of National Beef cattle and Yak Industrial Technology system". Zhu Yueming was employed as the stationmaster of "Zhangye Comprehensive Test Station of National Beef cattle and Yak Industrial Technology system". In order to play the role of this platform, Zhu Yueming led the company to establish a long-term cooperative relationship with China Agricultural University, Lanzhou Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Northwest Science and Technology University of Agriculture and Forestry, and Gansu Agricultural University. On March 15-17, 2014, Yan Ping, a post expert, and Zhu Yueming, a team from Zhangye Comprehensive Experimental Station, jointly carried out a beef cattle backfat test at Zhangye Comprehensive Experimental Station. Before the experiment, the stationmaster Zhu Yueming introduced in detail the production mode of beef cattle in the experimental station, including calf production of cows, fattening of beef cattle, calf breeding and so on. Subsequently, 51 17-18-month-old West crossbred beef cattle were selected to measure their backfat. On the basis of measuring the body weight, the backfat thickness and eye muscle area of 51 West crossbred cattle were measured by veterinary B ultrasound, the fat content of beef cattle was calculated, the marbling of West crossbred cattle was analyzed, and the meat production performance of West crossbred cattle in Hexi area of Gansu Province was evaluated. Through experiment and demonstration, Zhangye comprehensive test station has preliminarily established the production model of Zhangye beef cattle, and the fattening benefit of beef cattle is remarkable.

Zhu Yueming, who has a successful career, has not stopped the pace of innovation. During decades of hard work, Zhu Yueming found that the biggest difference between domestic and foreign beef cattle farming lies not in the breed of beef cattle, but in the pasture. "We can totally import excellent varieties from abroad, but we can't compare the vast grasslands like the United States and Australia. We don't have such large pastures, so the cost of raising beef cattle has always been very high, resulting in domestic beef prices always higher than abroad. In order to solve this problem, we can only work on grassland planting." In order to increase forage yield, Zhu Yueming made even more painstaking efforts to plant various varieties of corn. After several years of trial planting and comparison in 2014, it was found that Xinyi 12 could produce 10.8 tons of forage grass per mu, more than double the previous 4 tons per mu. "in the past, we used to feed one cow on one mu of land, but now we feed two cows on one mu of land, reducing the feeding cost by 2/3." In recent years, Zhu Yueming docked with 9 post experts in the industrial technology system of beef cattle and yak, and undertook the test and demonstration of 23 key tasks and forward-looking tasks, such as "beef cattle hybrid combination screening" and "cow calf nutrition supply technology". The introduction of German "Flaviher", American black "Angus", Japanese "and cattle" new breeds, "Zhangye beef cattle" carried out "dual" and "three-way hybrid". At the same time, the breeding of "cow core group", a new group of "Zhangye Beef cattle", Zhu Yueming's "Analysis of the causes of anestrus and Sterility of Beef cows in Zhangye City" and "current situation and thinking of Animal Husbandry industrialization in Hexi Agricultural area" were published in China cattle Science and other journals, which made a positive contribution to the breeding of Zhangye beef cattle.

After years of hard work in aquaculture, Zhu Yueming found that he did not understand aquaculture technology and was very passive at critical moments. "We often find animal husbandry experts everywhere to solve some small farming techniques and difficulties encountered, which is not only a waste of time and energy, but also very inconvenient." So he went to learn by himself, learning various breeding techniques, epidemic control and other animal husbandry knowledge. over the past few decades, he has unwittingly become an expert in animal husbandry. Now, Zhu Yuemin insists on studying for two hours a day to learn the latest animal husbandry knowledge and trends to serve the company and more farmers. In the course of breeding, Zhu Yueming found that every autumn, when making silage, a lot of water seeped out from the ammoniation cellar, which not only lost the nutrition of some forage grass, but also made it more difficult to feed. In order to overcome this problem, Zhu Yueming ran around major farms and communicated with domestic animal husbandry experts. he imagined adding a plant that could melt water and that cattle could eat. Zhu Yueming boldly added wheat straw crushing to silage in 2013. Zhu Yueming found that wheat straw not only absorbs water, but also contains protein that animals need. In 2014, Zhu Yueming experimented with crushing corncobs into green materials and found that the effect was better than that of wheat straw before, not only absorbing water but also having higher nutritional value. To overcome this problem, the well-known Qianjin dairy farms and surrounding cattle farmers have studied and promoted one after another, and Zhu Yueming's beef cattle breeding road is getting wider and smoother.
