Tang Meixian: take the road of characteristic breeding and realize the dream of becoming rich through science and technology
Whenever I drive past the head of the wind tunnel village, I can hear the sound of cooing animals. Take a closer look, it turns out to be a turkey farm. Walking into the farm, I saw a woman feeding a large flock of turkeys. Out of curiosity, the author went to talk to the woman who was feeding the turkey, only to know that her name was Tang Meixian, a 47-year-old native of Zihua Village, Zhimiao Township. She started raising turkeys in 2009 and moved the farm here in 2012. Besides raising turkeys, the farm also raises Tuyan chickens. At present, there are 300 turkey broilers, 150 Chinese chickens, 180 chicks and 220 Tuyan chickens.
Speaking of the scene of just starting to raise turkeys, the ordinary middle-aged peasant girl looked aggrieved and helpless. She said that when she bought turkey seedlings for the first time in 2009, she could not distinguish because she was inexperienced. She was sold to her by others for each 3 yuan chicken as a 15 yuan turkey seedling, and only after raising it for a month did she know that she had been tricked. She is still deeply impressed by this matter. But it was because of this that she made up her mind that she must raise the turkey well, raise the level, and cultivate the characteristics.
Zihua Village, Tang Meixian's hometown, has a characteristic. Almost every household raises turkeys, but not as commercial chickens, but as self-sufficient New year's delicacies, so there has been no large-scale breeding. While turkeys do not take corn as the main feed like other chickens, turkeys mainly eat green fodder, and Tang Meixian has been raising turkeys like other villagers for two years. She is gradually not satisfied with using turkeys as a delicacy for the Spring Festival. On street days, she tried to sell them on the street. At first, because people didn't know about turkeys and didn't know what they tasted, no one dared to buy them. Later, after her repeated introduction, some customers began to buy. Then the market gradually improved, and she could sell dozens of them in a year. Later, she thought that a small town could sell dozens of them a year, and if she went to the county seat, she should be able to sell more. With this idea, she and her husband visited Tianlin County many times and found that no one raised turkeys around the county seat. If turkey farms are set up around the county seat, the market prospect of supplying the county seat should be relatively broad. When it was observed that Fengdong Village in Leli Town was only a few kilometers away from the county seat, National Highway 324 passed by, and the river was covered with grass to feed turkeys, the couple decided to set up turkey farms around Fengdong Village, which has convenient transportation conditions and rich forage resources. after she told her idea to her brother, she got her brother's strong support, and then the brother and sister respectively set up turkey farms near Fengdong Village in 2012.
Tang Meixian's farm covers an area of about 2000 square meters, with a total investment of more than 100,000 yuan. At the beginning, due to the poor mastery of technical details such as feed preparation and epidemic prevention, the survival rate of turkeys was very low. Tang Meixian paid attention to observing turkey food intake, preferences and other habits at ordinary times, and used the evening time to consult relevant data. learn some common turkey disease prevention measures, and now have gradually explored a set of scientific breeding techniques. In the past, she has been buying chicken seedlings from a turkey hatchery, and the survival rate is not high. Since last year, she has collected breeding eggs and sent them to the hatchery to hatch. The survival rate has improved a lot, and she can also sell chicken seedlings, which not only increases the survival rate, but also increases income.
Because the turkeys and Tuyan chickens raised by Tang Meixian are released in the wild, coupled with the fact that the main feed is wild grass, they are well-colored and full of game, and are deeply loved by the broad masses of consumers. Customers who have bought her turkeys now often go to her farm to choose and buy them. In the past two years, there have been 5-6 batches of 5-6 batches of broilers, 200,500 young chickens and 500,800 Tuyan chickens, with an annual net income of more than 100,000 yuan.
Characteristic breeding and scientific management have brought good benefits to Tang Meixian. Talking about the future, Tang Meixian is full of longing: the next step will continue to take the road of ecological and characteristic breeding, expand the scale of the farm, let more consumers eat assured meat, and strive to drive the surrounding people to raise turkey together and develop it as a characteristic industry.
