Last Updated: 2024/11/24, Veterans raise porcupines to create a market that won't admit defeat.

In October this year, Xiangxi Hao Pork opened the bag of ready-to-eat stewed pork, porcupine sauce, spicy porcupine and other products on the market. Liu Qianjun went deep into the market and listened to the opinions and suggestions of joining merchants.

The founder said, "I gave up my annual salary of 200000 and went home to start a business because of the pain in my heart." The poverty in my hometown left me too much pain. I am duty-bound to invest all my possessions. Even if I lose everything, I still want to go back to my hometown to start a business. I want to ease the pain in my heart, set an example of entrepreneurship, and encourage the villagers to innovate and start a business. put an end to generations of poverty in my hometown. "

The 39-year-old experienced six "soldier raids" in his life.

Liu Qianjun, a veteran and "king of porcupine farming", summed up himself in this way.

Although he has been discharged from the army for 15 years, he still smells like a soldier: a dark face, a short haircut, resolute eyes, a straight waist, and faded camouflage clothes.

His comrade-in-arms called him the stubborn Sang Zhi "Xu Sanduo".

On November 5, Liu Qianjun told Sanxiang Metropolis Daily Chuang Weekly that everything I do now, including my character and soul, is rooted in the army.

He once performed meritorious service twice in the 38th Group Army, which is known as the "long-lived Army". Now, he is leading a group of farmers and comrades-in-arms to raise porcupine in his hometown Sangzhi.

Registered companies, the establishment of porcupine farming cooperatives, plans to use WeChat, e-commerce and other modern marketing methods, so that the green porcine in the depths of the mountains to the world.

At the same time, he had another "little ninety-nine" in mind: to lead the villagers to get rich and work with several comrades-in-arms to realize the dream of changing the backwardness of his hometown.

The first assault:

Join the army and vow to break through the world.

Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie City is a poor county. Dingjiayu Village, the home of Liu Qianjun, is located in the depths of the mountains. It takes more than an hour to walk to the nearest market town.

When he was a student, Liu Qianjun was the local famous high achiever. He won the first place in five exams and the second one in three years in junior high school. He was admitted to high school with excellent grades in 1994. However, Liu Qianjun was forced to drop out of school in his second year of high school because he could not afford a tuition fee of more than 100 yuan. The 17-year-old went to Zhangjiajie to work alone, picking bricks, picking sand and mixing cement slurry on the construction site, and he did all the dirty work.

"when the wages were settled at the end of the year, the boss was in arrears." Liu Qianjun said that at that time, he didn't even have the cost of travelling home, so the contractor gave him an old bike as a salary. "I rode that old bike home for the Spring Festival. I started from Zhangjiajie Railway Station at 10:00 in the morning and didn't get home until 10:00 in the evening." Liu Qianjun recalled that he did not eat along the way and drank mountain spring water by the side of the road when he was thirsty.

In December 1996, I joined the army. "when I put on my military uniform and got on a truck to leave my hometown, I secretly swore that I would break out of my own world."

Second assault:

The ice rips off the palm cocoon to become a training model.

The 38 Group Army is a world-famous "long-lived army", and Liu Qianjun became a field correspondent.

For the first time, Liu Qianjun fainted when he ran for the first time with 5 km of armed cross-country. In order to prove himself, Liu Qianjun often got up in the middle of the night for a run and got the best results of the whole regiment.

"at that time, the result of the horizontal bar was not ideal, which was a drag on the class in the examination, so I got up quietly at 4: 00 in the morning to practice the horizontal bar." Liu Qianjun recalled that in winter, the night temperature in Baoding, Hebei Province, was more than 10 degrees Celsius below zero. As soon as the hands were put up, they stuck with the frost on the horizontal bar. When they got off the bars, the calluses were torn off by ice, leaving several holes in their hands, and blood flowed directly. Because of his hard training and outstanding achievements, Liu Qianjun was rated as a training pacesetter.

During his five years in the army, Liu Qianjun performed excellently, won the first place in the cable professional competition of the whole division, served as squad leader and acting platoon leader successively, and twice won third-class merit.

The third assault:

Retire from the army and give up 200000 annual salary to raise porcupine

At the end of 2001, Liu Qianjun reluctantly left the fiery barracks and returned to his hometown.

He applied for a job as a security guard of Bailong elevator in Zhangjiajie. Because of his diligence and willingness to work, he was soon promoted to head of security, head of personnel, manager of integrated services, and so on, with a monthly salary of more than 5000 yuan.

But at this time, Liu Qianjun, who was not satisfied with the status quo, resigned and went to Shenzhen to become the head of the food and beverage department in a large hotel. After several years of hard work, Liu Qianjun's annual salary has reached 200000 yuan.

While working in Shenzhen, Liu Qianjun found that many hotel guests like to eat porky pork, which sells well and the price is high. "in my hometown of Sangzhi, relatives can often catch porcupines when hunting." Liu Qianjun thinks that Sangzhi has a natural environment and should be very suitable for raising porcupine.

Liu Qianjun, who discovered the business opportunity, became restless again. With the dream of starting a business, Liu Qianjun returned to Sangzhi in 2011 with 1 million yuan in cash accumulated by working for many years.

"Let's raise porcupine together!" Liu Qianjun's idea resonated with several comrades-in-arms.

"around November 2011, four comrades-in-arms borrowed a dilapidated pickup truck and went to Jiangxi, Hubei, Sichuan and other places to inspect porcupine breeding projects." Liu Qianjun recalled that the car broke down on a remote mountain road in Enshi, Hubei Province, and several comrades-in-arms pushed the cart for several miles in the evening. In order to save money, four comrades-in-arms sleep in the same room.

The inspection found that the market situation of porcupine is very good, 140 yuan / jin is still in short supply, and breeding techniques are also easy to learn.

"do it as soon as you get home!" Several people are confident and determined to start a business.

The fourth assault:

Porcupine farms built in barren mountain villages

After returning from the inspection, several comrades-in-arms pooled more than 100,000 yuan to pick sand, move bricks, and build walls by themselves. In December 2011, the farm with more than 100 pig houses was completed.

After that, another 80 breeding pigs were introduced from Jiangxi and Changde at a cost of 240000 yuan. "the total investment in the first phase is 500000 yuan, and I account for 51% of the shares." Liu Qianjun said.

However, we underestimated the wild nature of porcupines. The railings of the standard pig houses were so low that several strong porcupines climbed over the wall and ran into the mountains at night. "it's worth tens of thousands of yuan, and several comrades-in-arms went into the mountains all night with torches and flashlights to look for it." Liu Qianjun said that he finally captured the escaped porcupine under a stone wall.

With the acceleration of reproduction, during the spring and summer of the following year, we invested more than 200,000 to expand more than 200 pig houses, and introduced another 40 breeding pigs from other places, and the breeding scale reached nearly 300 in 2012.

"I know porcupine is delicious, but after raising porcupine for several years, we haven't eaten it ourselves because it's too expensive." Liu Qianjun said that the porcupine is aggressive and often beats the flesh open. Several comrades-in-arms joked at that time that if a porcupine died, we would taste it. However, the porcupine hardly gets sick and has a strong ability to repair itself after injury. the wound never becomes inflamed or infected and can be cured in a few days without any treatment.
