Lao Ding, whose real name is Ding Shiyun, is 51 years old. He moved from Anyue County to Dafo Township of Yuechi County in 2005 and began to grow grapefruit. It has been ten years since this year. At present, pomelo has developed from 150mu to 7000 mu, involving 4 townships and 16 villages.

But behind the joy of this bumper harvest, there is a record of his persistent pursuit and dream obsessed with the development of fruit trees.

Lao Ding had an accident when he was in junior high school. His right wrist was blown to flesh and blood by gunpowder, and he was forced to amputate his limb, leaving him disabled. In the face of sudden changes and unfortunate life opportunities, he did not give up his dream and pursuit. With a left hand, he developed life skills such as washing, cooking, cutting vegetables and farming, and was determined to make a career in fruit trees. To this end, he long-term subscribed to "Fruit Industry Information", "Fruit trees in South China" and other professional books to learn to recharge, mastered fruit tree seedling cultivation, grafting cultivation management and other techniques. He became a village fruit tree technician in 1989 and successively went to China Citrus Research Institute for further study, which made him make great progress in fruit tree cultivation techniques and new variety cultivation, and got the opportunity to be sent to Zhonggang Institute for further study. From then on, he embarked on the entrepreneurial road of grafting fruit trees and developing grapefruit. After the policy dismissal in 1999, he sought his own job and went back to his hometown to contract the land for the cultivation of new varieties of "honey pomelo". With the high-quality virus-free pomelo introduced by Zhongkan as the female parent, through four years of efforts, a new variety of honey pomelo with moderate sour and sweet skin, crisp and tender residue, high and stable yield has been cultivated.

In order to popularize and plant his own new varieties of honey pomelo, in 2005, he was optimistic about the superior policy of developing agricultural industry in Dafo Township, Yuechi County, and transplanted more than 5000 new varieties of honey pomelo introduced and cultivated in Zhongkan three years ago to Sanguandian Village, Dafo Township, covering an area of 150mu. At first, due to unfamiliarity, disability and long-term hard work, he was bedridden and his life was at a low ebb. Fortunately, the cadres and masses in Dafo Township did not regard him as an outsider, and the township party committee and government took the initiative to help him coordinate and solve difficulties and problems, and the common people also went to see him to ask for warmth, making him, a disabled person in a foreign country, feel the warmth of his family. In 2006, despite the strong opposition of his family, he moved his hukou from Anyue to Dafo Township, Yuechi County, and decided to make the grapefruit industry bigger and stronger, leading the villagers to get rich and increase their income. In 2008, he launched the development concept of honey pomelo-"give you a tree and give me back a fruit", that is, free grapefruit seedlings for people to plant, and each tree will return one fruit a year when the grapefruit is produced. A good idea brings rapid development. At that time, Sanguandian Village planted more than 1500 mu of pomelo. At that time, ordinary people also bought shares with land and joined cooperatives one after another. Today, 20% of his "Anfo honey pomelo" has failed fruit, and the honey grapefruit is good in taste. It is favored by the bosses of big supermarkets and farmers' markets such as Chongqing and Chengdu, and has signed sales orders with him one after another.

Last year, Dafo Township vigorously implemented industrial poverty alleviation, developed poverty alleviation projects for Anfo honey pomelo industry in Fenghuang, Xiangshan, Zhaojiagou, Sanguandian and Yanjiawan, and handed over the important task of continuous development and development of honey pomelo industry to Ding Shiyun. In May this year, he jointly developed with the villagers in the name of the cooperative. The villagers gave out the land, and the cooperative was responsible for all management and sales. In the future, the masses accounted for 80% of the income, and the cooperative accounted for only 20%. 50, 000 grapefruit seedlings are planned to be planted in five villages. the area is more than 2000 mu, and it is estimated that the output value during the peak period can reach 10 million yuan.

Today, as a deputy to the Municipal people's Congress, he invited his brother, sister and nephew from Anyue to Yuechi, where the whole family developed the grapefruit industry and brought the villagers to develop and become rich.
