More than 20 Yao workers work in the fruit field

Wei Shengcai, a Yao man from Banlun Township, Funing County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, has been busy in recent days in the Jiaokeng Fruit Farm of Baipenzhu Hengjiang Village. He and more than 20 other Yao fellow villagers cut out ripe mandarins from the Gong Citrus Forest and put them in baskets. These golden mandarins are then packed into cartons and carried on trucks to wholesale markets in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places.

In fact, the real fruit planting expert is Ye Shaodong, the owner of the fruit farm and head of the cooperative. It was under his leadership that Wei Shengcai and other Yao workers had the opportunity to cultivate and grow fruit in Lingnan.

Yao compatriots' shareholders in Fruit Market

Ye Shaodong started the citrus wholesale business in 1995, while Ye Shaodong also planted trees in the mountainous areas of Meizhou and Huidong. The timber business led Ye Shaodong to form a bond with his Yao compatriots. In 2005, when Ye Shaodong was planting eucalyptus trees in Meizhou, he was short of manpower, so he hired some workers. Among them, Zhang Qianfa and Zhang Yuwu became his first batch of workers. The two boys come from the southwest border of China and the mountains of Wenshan Prefecture in Yunnan Province. Wenshan Prefecture is inhabited by more than 20 ethnic groups, including Han, Zhuang, Miao and Yao. Coincidentally, Zhang Qianfa and Zhang Yuwu both married Yao girls in Wenshan Prefecture.

In 2009, Ye Shaodong came to the barren mountain of Baipenzhu Hengjiang Village to open up a Jiaokeng fruit farm and introduced Gong mandarin planting from Zhaoqingde. Without saying a word, Zhang Qianfa came with several Yao brothers to help open the mountain and plant fruit. One mu, two mu... To a thousand mu, Ye Shaodong's fruit farm grew from scratch and became a big citrus grower in Huidong. In 2013, Huidong County Zhongrun Citrus Professional Cooperative was established, and Yao compatriots joined the cooperative members on a household-by-household basis and became shareholders of the fruit farm.

In the process of ploughing Gong mandarin, Ye Shaodong developed a deep Brotherhood with his Yao compatriots. On weekdays, we all get along like brothers and help each other, and there is no natural gap between the boss and the workers. What moved Ye Shaodong most was that in March 2009, his old father died and there were fewer relatives and friends in the family. For a time, he was understaffed in dealing with his father's affairs. Zhang Qianfa brothers still did not say a word, and brought in more than 20 Yao villagers to volunteer to help Ye Shaodong deal with the funeral. This makes Ye Shaodong grateful.

Ye Shaodong once told Yao workers that if he could not build a house in his hometown after working in the fruit field for five years, he would pay for the lack of money. Liu Ting, a Yao man, worked in the fruit field with his wife for more than 3 years. "it has been my dream for many years to build a new house, but my house has not yet been built." Liu Ting plans to go back to his hometown to build a house in the near future, but there is still a shortfall of 50,000 to 60,000 yuan. Liu Ting mentioned to Ye Shaodong about building a house, and Ye Shaodong immediately advanced tens of thousands of yuan to him.

According to the wholesale of Tongguo 4.20 yuan per jin, the sales of 400000 tons of Gong orange this year is at least 3 million yuan. Moreover, this wholesale price also increases with the decrease of fruit quantity.

Zhang Deng, his wife and his parents, a family of four labor force, are in the fruit market. In addition to the monthly guaranteed wage of 1800 yuan, they also become members of the cooperative on a family basis, and they can pay dividends at the end of each year. Zhang Deng said that after working in the fruit field for more than four years, the family now earns 120000 yuan a year. This year, the 160mu Gong mandarin he manages has a good harvest, and his income will be even higher. "this figure is very high in our hometown. Thanks to our eldest brother, we can get rid of poverty ahead of time."

Ye Shaodong hopes that under the hard-working sweat of these hard-working Yao brothers, Huidong Gonggan will become a well-known domestic brand. Recently, the trademark registered by Ye Shaodong for the cooperative Gongkan was approved by the relevant department of Huidong County: "Shanyao Crispy Orange" with the advertising slogan: "only when you are affectionate and kind can you get Citrus Crisp."
