Walking along the mountain road with three young yellow cattle at an altitude of 600 meters, although the weather was a little cold, Zhang Guangming was warm in his heart. "without spending a penny, you can borrow a few cattle to go home and raise them, and next year you can return them to this cow, earning thousands of yuan a year." where can I find such a good thing? "

Zhang Guangming, 52, lives in Zhangjiashan Village, Luotian, Hubei Province, deep in the Dabie Mountains. He has no children and has never walked out of the mountain all his life. He lives with his wife and his 80-year-old mother. Not long ago, the poor people in the village were verified, and the villagers agreed that his family was the poorest.

Zhang Guangming calculated an account for the reporter: if you borrow three calves of about one year old, you don't have to spend a penny to take them home and breed themselves. a year later, the calves can come out of the pen and return them back. How much meat the scalpers have gained in a year, you can earn as much as you can.

Who is "this guy"? He is he Gen, known as the "post-90s college student shepherd".

In June 2011, he Gen, who stayed and taught at Wuhan Software Engineering Vocational College, made an amazing decision to return to his hometown of Bailianhe Township, Luotian County, Hubei Province to raise cattle in Fuzhongdi Village.

He was 21 years old that year.

He had been herding cattle in the mountains since he was a child, and then came back after college. His father turned his face with Hegen for a time, but he did not change his mind. Hegen said: "the biggest difficulty in starting a business in rural areas is not funds, projects, or government policy support, but that there are no young people in rural areas!"

In November of that year, Hegen tried to raise 14 scalpers. In order to ensure the quality of beef, Hegen insisted on not feeding the cattle with additives, but letting them eat the natural forage of the Dabie Mountains. At the beginning of his business, before dawn every day, Hegen got up and ran to the river to cut cattle grass. His hands were covered with blood blisters and calluses, and his arms and legs were covered with blood marks cut by grass.

No matter how hard it is to start a business, Hegen's determination to be a "Dabie Mountain scalper" has not changed. In just over a year, his career has made great progress. Led by he Gen, some migrant workers in the village also went back to their hometown to raise cattle. In April 2012, he Gen established the "people's livelihood cattle raising Professional Cooperative". By 2015, the members of his cooperative had reached 117 households and produced more than 2700 cattle a year. Hegen also opened a store to sell his own beef, and his beef brand was named Hegen. At present, he has opened five stores in the nearby Huanggang city.

He Gen said that his fate is destined to belong to the countryside, in his eyes, in addition to green water and green mountains, there is a broad space for development in rural areas. At present, Hegen has transferred more than 2200 mu of mountain forests to create natural pastures. His dream is to establish a "Dabie Mountain cattle" breeding base to do a series of deeply processed products related to cattle.

On November 21, there were more than 30 villagers who borrowed cattle with Zhang Guangming, all of whom were poor families in Zhangjiashan village. "I heard that they can borrow cattle to go home and raise their own, and all the poor families in the village are willing to participate. I think that capable people like he Gen can take poor families out of poverty and help the poor go a long way." Yang Hong, leader of the poverty alleviation task force in Zhangjiashan Village, said, "of the 400 households in the village, 125 are poor households. I believe that under the leadership of he Gen, there is hope to get rid of poverty in three years."

Put down the university whip, go back to your hometown to pick up the bullwhip and lead the villagers to get rich together. Wu Tianxiang, a national moral model who is nearly 70 years old, has visited he Gen in the Dabie Mountains eight times.

"Old Wu always encourages me to make great achievements in the countryside, but we can't rely on my parents and parents, but we need more young people. Today, seeing the happy appearance of fellow villagers when they lead oxen has further strengthened my confidence that starting a business in rural areas needs young people, and young people are needed to get rid of poverty in rural areas.
