Emperor chrysanthemum is regarded as the best chrysanthemum tea, especially the one from Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province.

Song Libin, a door and window farmer in Jiaozhou City, planted Imperial Chrysanthemum on Mingshanling, Gaoshangou Village, Licha Town. In the past 3 years, the planting area has been expanded from 10 mu to 50 mu by loosening soil, watering and fertilizing. In November, it coincides with the blooming period of Huangju, and today's Mingshanling is "soaring incense through Chang'an, with golden armour all over the city."

On November 20, the reporter came to the imperial chrysanthemum planting base in Gaoshangou village, Licha town. a large area of imperial chrysanthemum has entered its full bloom. the female workers are carrying bamboo baskets in their left hand and skillfully putting chrysanthemums into the basket in their right hand. The chrysanthemums are golden in color and in full bloom at the end of the stem. In the field hut, after a curled yellow flower was brewed by boiling water, it soon turned into a full and moist yellow flower ball, coupled with green tea as the bottom, like a delicate chrysanthemum blooming in the cup, the fragrance is adorable.

Song Libin, 50, does farm work when he is busy and does door and window business in his spare time. Three years ago, when he traveled to Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province, he saw a large area of imperial chrysanthemum planted there. Because of the high quality, the market price is not cheap, so he feels that this is a business opportunity. "at that time, business was very mediocre, and I had the idea of changing careers. When I heard that the government supported agricultural development, I had feelings for land since I was a child, so I decided to give up the door and window business and go back to the village to do agriculture." Song Libin said. So he brought back some of the imperial chrysanthemum seedlings from Wuyuan and planted them on the Mingshan Ridge. "because we had no experience and were not willing to prune, the appearance of the imperial chrysanthemum planted was not good enough, but when the imperial chrysanthemum was harvested at the end of October, the fields were golden and the scenery was so beautiful that many villagers nearby came specially to visit and were still very happy."

Imperial chrysanthemum is planted from May to June and picked around November. In order to grow chrysanthemum well, he went south to Wuyuan many times to consult local growers. After two years of trial planting, we gradually found out the growth habits of imperial chrysanthemum. "for the first two years, we were reluctant to prune, but then we realized that if we wanted to be of good quality, each plant could only have three or four branches, and this year we fixed all the plants with small bamboo, so it was not easy to fall to the ground and ensure that the chrysanthemums at the top were well exposed to the sun and rain." Song Libin said. Today, the planting area of imperial chrysanthemum has expanded from the original 10 mu to more than 50 mu. Due to drought and little rain in the later period, in order to ensure the water needed by the imperial chrysanthemum, he drilled four 100-meter deep wells on the mountain land, coupled with proper field management. These imperial chrysanthemums ushered in the full bloom.

Tea is usually called in two ways, and chrysanthemum tea is no exception, but imperial chrysanthemum has its own style. There is a folk proverb, "I would like to have one gram of October chrysanthemum, not ten thousand taels of gold from Huang Cheng." this shows that it is precious. "A plant has nearly 100 flowers, and only one or two super-grade imperial chrysanthemums can be picked. The most difficult step in making imperial chrysanthemum is baking. In order to ensure that the petals and flowers are intact, the picked imperial chrysanthemum should retain natural dew, dried with pure natural charcoal, and roasted artificially. The roasted imperial chrysanthemum not only retains the natural bright golden color and pure sweet taste, but also has no loss of nutrition. It is a rare delicacy. " Song Libin told reporters that baking imperial chrysanthemum tests people's patience and perseverance.

All dried imperial chrysanthemums with a diameter of more than 4.5cm are of high quality, while those above 5cm are super imperial chrysanthemums. In Wuyuan, the most expensive 12 imperial chrysanthemums can sell for more than 1600 yuan. In the trial planting in the past few years, in order to expand the market, Song Libin sold 1 to 2 yuan each for more than 4 centimeters, and 36 for more than 5 centimeters sold for thousands of yuan. "if the number of more than 5 centimeters is too small in the base, you can produce more than 5000 at most, so the price is much higher." Song Libin said.

Although the royal chrysanthemum is expensive, it is in short supply in the market because it feels that its appearance is very popular with consumers. "the imperial chrysanthemum is growing very well this year. Most of the flowers are more than 4 centimeters in diameter, so it should be a good harvest. According to a rough estimate, the base will produce about 10,000 imperial chrysanthemums per mu this year. At present, a large part of these imperial chrysanthemums have been booked by some customers in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, with a profit of 1 million yuan. "

Song Libin said that he will feel at ease to stay on the farm, and plans to expand the planting scale next year, and attract some villagers to join in, attentively grow better quality chrysanthemum, so that everyone who drinks chrysanthemum feel beautiful, experience the top enjoyment from taste buds to vision.
