Chen Shijin, a mulberry and sericulture technician in Lingjiao Village, was interviewed by Phoenix all-media.

At present, there are more than 380 mu of mulberry trees in Lingjiao village for sericulture.

From "hovering up and down in food and clothing" to "successfully sending a few children through college" to a well-off road. This is a true portrayal of Chen Shijin, a villager of Lingjiao Village, Wanling Town, Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County, Hainan Province.

On November 19, the second Phoenix all-Media Hainan, with the theme of "discovering the Beauty of Hainan", walked into Qiongzhong Lingjiao Village to learn more about the "development classics" of this village.

Chen Shijin is a technician of mulberry sericulture in Wanling Town, Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County, Hainan Province, and is also the first batch of people in Lingjiao Village to plant mulberry and sericulture.

In the past, the Chen Shijin family made a living by growing rice, so it was difficult to provide food and clothing, let alone money for their children to go to school.

In 2007, the Wanling town government held a free training course on sericulture and mulberry cultivation for farmers. in order to arouse the enthusiasm of farmers, the government introduced preferential policies-planting mulberry fields of more than 4 mu, and the government could lend 20,000 yuan to farmers. Chen Shijin happened to be in the town on business, so the town cadres asked him to attend the training.

"I didn't understand the technique of growing mulberry and sericulture at that time, but I just didn't have the money to pay my children's tuition, so I wanted to get a loan to pay my tuition. This is the beginning of the road to sericulture, "Chen Shijin said with a smile.

At the beginning, Chen Shijin did not know what sericulture was all about, nor did he know what the income was. When raising the first batch of silkworms, the breeding technology was not good and did not make money. I wanted to dig up mulberry trees, but the town leaders arranged for technicians to give guidance. Chen Shijin learned the technology and made money that year.

So why is the benefit of growing mulberry and sericulture so good in Qiongzhong? The climate of Hainan is a great advantage. Silkworms can be reared inland for only 5 months, while Hainan can reach 10 months. If there is more time for sericulture, the income will naturally be high. At the same time, mulberry planting and sericulture has the advantages of small investment, short cycle and quick effect. "my income has increased about six times now," Chen Shijin said. "

Chen Shijin said that he planted a total of 14 mu of mulberry fields, and his annual income reached about 120000 yuan in 2013 and 2014. Compared with the past, the income has increased more than six times.

In the future, Chen Shijin plans to use the silkworm chain to develop the cause of mulberry sericulture. While using mulberry leaves to raise silkworms, he can also make rational use of mulberry stalks and develop them in an all-round way.

From November 14 to 22, the nine-day "discovering the Beauty of Hainan-the second Phoenix all-Media Hainan Tour" was launched in Haikou. The Phoenix all-Media style Troupe set off from Haikou to collect customs in Qionghai, Wenchang, Qiongzhong, Danzhou and Changjiang to discover the beauty of Hainan.
