A few days ago, in the "Sea of Pineapple" near Sun Tian Village, Qianshan Town, Xuwen County, the author found that some farmers had planted green peppers in the former pineapple orchard.

At the planting site, the author saw that the whole pepper garden adopted advanced technologies such as film mulching and spray irrigation for planting management, while a group of women worked hard in the pepper garden. The pepper seedlings, which have been planted for some time, appear to be tall and leafy under the care of the workers, in sharp contrast to the pineapple next to them, making people feel full of vitality.

This makes the author and his party feel very novel. As we all know, in the traditional planting mode, few people use pineapple fields to grow short-term cash crops such as vegetables. In this regard, the head of the pepper garden, Wang Si, said that the pepper garden, with a total of 86 mu, had been growing pineapple. However, in the last two or three years, he found that the pineapple planted in this garden appeared a small, reduced yield and other abnormal phenomena. After consulting agricultural technicians, it is estimated that it is the singleness of long-term cultivation of pineapple, resulting in the vulgarization of the soil and the fact that nutrients are not easily absorbed by crops. It is expected to be improved by planting pineapples this year and vegetables next year. Wang Si listened to the opinions of agricultural technicians and decided to try to change the planting structure by planting green peppers in order to improve the land and improve economic benefits.

"after I harvested the pineapple in May this year, I stopped growing pineapple. Now, I have green peppers on these 86 mu of land. First, I hope to change the management situation through the short-term cash crop of green peppers. The second is to finally achieve the goal of improving the soil." Wang Si said.

Several village women who are working all agree with Wang Si's approach. They say that now many farmers have gradually accepted the "change" way, no longer growing pineapples to "black". The staff of Qianshan Town, who accompanied him, also said that in recent years, the agricultural department of the county and the town will guide farmers to "change" so as to maximize the benefits of land and increase the income of ordinary people.
