Lily light and elegant fragrance, nothing publicity, but also intoxicating. Therefore, Easterners like to use lilies as gifts to their loved ones. Unexpectedly, Cheng Shirong, a young farmer in Jiulong Town, Yingde City, also planted a large area of perfume lilies. Today, his 70-acre perfume lily has almost been ordered, and his annual net income is expected to reach 4 million yuan.

Transform and start a business, plant lilies in rice fields

At the end of November, the author came to Weitangtu Village, Shijiao Village, Jiulong Town. Black awnings came into view on the flower fields. The lush perfume lilies in the shed were neatly arranged, and the branches were covered with light green buds. More than 10 workers are holding plastic ropes and bundling flowers one by one. "the bud of the perfume lily is larger and must be tied up with a rope so that it will grow up and will not affect the beauty of the flower because the bud is too heavy." See the author is confused, Cheng Shirong explained.

Cheng Shirong, 40, is a native of Kowloon. He has been growing towel gourd and cantaloupe in Shaoguan for 10 years. He has earned some money after years of hard work. When he returned to his hometown in the past two years, he was very saddened to see that an acre of fertile land was wasted because of Huanglong disease. So he decided to go back to Kowloon Town to start a business for the second time.

His friend recommended planting lilies to him. After a series of previous investigations, Cheng Shirong determined that Jiulong Town was suitable for growing perfume lilies. "A flower is like a man. Lilies are very delicate, and they have high requirements for climate, temperature and water quality. If the ecological environment is not good, lilies will not be good or even get sick. " Pointing to the vibrant lily fields, Cheng Shirong said that 16 ℃-25 ℃ is the best for lilies to grow, while the temperature difference between morning and evening in Kowloon Town is suitable. Other places usually plant two crops a year, but in Kowloon they can grow three crops a year.

As a result, Cheng Shirong partnered with the above-mentioned friends to plant perfume lilies in Kowloon Town. In July this year, more than 500,000 lily bulbs imported from the Netherlands, Japan and other places were successfully buried, and its "alpine lily base" was officially put into operation.

Cheng Shirong told me that he rented 70 mu of land from Tangdu Village at a price of 380 yuan per mu, and built three 160 square meters of cold storage, with a total investment of more than 5.4 million yuan. "the sugar orange trees on these land are infected with Huanglong disease, and many farmers don't care at all, so we also make great efforts to cut down trees and clean up and level the land."

The future is bright, and the sales of lilies are prosperous.

Lush lily fields make visitors linger, but for florists, what makes them happiest is the prospect of these flowers.

Cheng Shirong told me that he and his friends are responsible for planting and marketing, and have a tacit understanding. "one of us, inside and outside, I concentrate on growing high-quality flowers. He has a shop in Fangcun, Guangzhou, and often brings some merchants to Huatian to see and sell through the Internet." Cheng Shirong said that planting lilies has high returns and broad market prospects. The purchase price of planting balls is 2-5 yuan per plant, and the selling price is about 10 yuan. The demand is even greater during the Spring Festival, which can be sold as annual flowers to 25-30 yuan per plant.

"under normal circumstances, perfume lilies can be picked and sold for 70 days after planting, and the buds must be sold more than 20 days after maturity, but after a season of sale, the seed balls of the land must be dug up and put into cold storage to sleep for 145-150 days. After it germinates, it must be taken out and replanted." Cheng Shirong said that because of the beautiful shape of the lily branches and buds, the sales situation is very optimistic. At present, more than 500,000 lilies can be sold out already, all of them are sold to the Pearl River Delta, and some are exported to Southeast Asia and other places. The remaining 300,000 lilies will be sold around the Spring Festival. According to preliminary estimates, the annual net income can reach 4 million yuan.

Although the investment is large and the risk is high, Cheng Shirong is very excited by such a considerable return, and the current good market prospect makes him even more confident. In order to expand the scale of development and strengthen management, he has hired more than 20 local workers, and then plans to grow about 200 mu in the surrounding villages.
