December 2 is the day of Yanxi Township, Jialing District. In the livestock and poultry market in the countryside, goats are selling very well, and there is no shortage of city people who drive specially to buy.

The author learned in the interview that the township established a goat farming cooperative in Sancaigou Village in 2012, adopting the model of financial support, technical guidance, and benefit sharing to drive more than 1000 households out of the road to become rich. As a result, Yanxi Township has become a famous "hometown of goats".

"borrow sheep to give birth to cubs + project reward" to solve the shortage of funds

In 2014, Pu Menglin, a villager of Liufangbei Village in the township, borrowed sheep from the cooperative to raise sheep, and his ewes gave birth one after another, adding 18 young goats at once. "I am disabled. Farming, I can not move; working, no factory dares to take it. Later, I turned my attention to goat farming. " Pu Menglin said that because of his poor family, he would not be able to raise enough money to buy breeding sheep for a while.

In April last year, Pu Menglin borrowed 10 breeder sheep from the cooperative. After more than a year of careful care, his ewe successfully gave birth to 18 lambs. On the same day, looking at the sheep nibbling on the grass in front of the house, Pu Menglin could not restrain his inner joy: "if you sell all these 18 goats, it is conservatively estimated to earn 20,000 yuan."

According to Lan Yong, secretary of the party committee of the township, the cooperative promotes the model of "borrowing sheep to give birth to cubs" among the masses. Villagers who wish to raise sheep but do not have start-up funds borrow sheep from the cooperative for free and return the borrowed sheep to the cooperative after the first batch of lambs are weaned. Farmers have been given lambs, and the breeding sheep lent by the cooperative have also been raised, thus achieving a win-win situation.

"I develop goat farming by 'borrowing sheep to give birth to cubs'. Due to the lack of funds to build sheep pens, the scale of breeding has been small. " Xie Zhengquan, a villager of Yinfangwan Village in the township, told reporters that in 2012, he converted half of his house into a sheep pen, raised goats, produced more than 30 goats a year, and had an annual income of nearly 30,000 yuan, barely able to maintain family expenses and school expenses for his two sons.

In 2014, the township helped the cooperative win 1.2 million yuan for the pilot construction project for the development and innovation of professional cooperatives. To this end, the cooperative has formulated a series of measures to encourage villagers to raise goats.

Farmers who build more than 50 square meters of pens, buy more than 10 breeder goats and produce more than 50 fenced goats a year can get financial subsidies. Among them, the sheepfold construction subsidy of 230 yuan per square meter, the purchase of breeding sheep subsidy of 600 yuan. " Xie Zhengquan said that with this east wind, he built a new enclosure of more than 100 square meters and bought 50 breeder sheep. "after more than a year of hard work, my family can produce 500 hurdle goats this year, and there is no need to worry about the cost of college for my two sons." Xie Zhengquan said happily.

"Unified epidemic Prevention + Technical Exchange" to solve Technical problems

"the ewe of the old Chiang family is sick. I must go and have a look." On December 2, Zhou Shili, president of the cooperative, just finished his lunch and began to be busy again.

The membership of the cooperative has increased, the scale of farming has expanded, and the technical problems of farming have followed. "We have to go to the scene as soon as possible to learn about the disease, timely treatment, and docking with the District Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau to win technical support." Zhou Shili told me that although timely treatment can avoid losses, the most important thing for goat breeding is early epidemic prevention.

"the cooperative conducts unified epidemic prevention for goats in the township every quarter, and organizes large farmers in the township to conduct a technical exchange, exchange goat breeding techniques, and explore measures for the diagnosis and treatment of some diseases. Seminars will also be held from time to time to study new outbreaks to deal with diseases that may occur in goats at different growth stages. " Zhou Shili said that after the exchange meeting, the core members of the cooperatives participating in the meeting will pass on the results of the exchange to all members, and then from the members to retail investors, so as to achieve the effect of common progress.

"at present, the cooperative has more than 300 members and is expected to produce 18000 goats this year." When it comes to the current achievements of the cooperative, Zhou Shili is extremely proud.

"traditional Market + E-commerce" to deal with Price fluctuation

I've been in a bit of a hurry lately. "the price of mutton has been very high in the past few years, and all the sheep farmers in the village have made money. I thought the market was good, so I finished my part-time job and came back to raise sheep. Seeing the first batch of more than 30 sheep coming out of the pen this year, they encountered a decline in market prices. " Liu Famin said that the average price of live sheep on the market this year is 22 yuan per kilogram, which is about 16 yuan lower than last year.

"the temperature this winter is slightly higher than that of previous years, and there are relatively few people who eat mutton. In addition, a number of low-priced sheep from other places have entered the Nanchong market, which has had an impact on the local goat market and caused local goat prices to continue to fall." Zhou Shili said, "but the live sheep price of Yanxi goat is still maintained at 30 yuan per kilogram, and the price of mutton is maintained at more than 50 yuan per kilogram." Knowing the worry in Liu Famin's heart, Zhou Shili rushed to his house in time and gave him a "reassurance".

In the environment of falling market prices, the price of Yanxi goat is still higher than the average market price. How do cooperatives do it? On the one hand, cooperatives actively dock with municipal and district agriculture and animal husbandry bureaus to increase publicity on local goats so that consumers can understand the value difference between goats and sheep; on the other hand, cooperatives build a goat sales market in the township to attract city people to come to the scene to kill goats or buy mutton, so that consumers can feel at ease. At the same time, cooperatives have set up Yanxi goat direct sales points in major farmers' markets in Nanchong to increase the market share of Yanxi goats. " Zhou Shili said that doing a good job in publicity and setting up direct sales points have, to a certain extent, fended off the cold wave of prices.

"apart from opening up the local market, we are also actively exploring overseas markets." Zhou Shili said that this year, members of the cooperative traveled around to investigate the market situation and learned that mutton prices in Chongqing, Guizhou and other places were relatively strong, so they signed supply and marketing agreements with a number of local mutton dealers. Through both internal and external markets, the interests of goat farmers in the township have been protected.

It is understood that in order to make Yanxi goats "go out" as soon as possible, the cooperative has also attracted a number of college student members, actively opened up the Internet market, used the Internet to broaden sales channels, and implanted new marketing models in traditional industries.
