The skin is purple and black, the meat is white, sweet and crisp. Horseshoe, which has the reputation of "underground snow pear" since ancient times, has gradually stepped out a new way to increase income and become rich by promoting improved varieties and methods.

It is now a cold winter, but the field of Liangtou Village, Quanjiang Town, Suichuan County is full of heat. Xie Liuhua, a big local horseshoe grower, is leading more than 100 villagers to rush to harvest horseshoes. Each nail hoe goes down and opens the fertile and thick soil. The horseshoes "inlaid" in the soil layer are arranged in a nest, picking up full and shiny horseshoes, just like newly acquired "underground treasures." While digging hard, while picking up hand disease, the joy of a bumper harvest is beyond expression.

Liangtou Village, Quanjiang Town is surrounded by water on three sides and mountains on one side, with superior natural environment and abundant arable land. However, due to the lack of characteristic agriculture, most of the villagers live with their faces turned upside down and do not earn much money all the year round.

By chance, Xie Liuhua, a cadre in the village, discovered the value of horseshoes and first planted a large area of his arable land. He was the first to eat crabs and tasted the sweetness of characteristic industries.

"the output of horseshoes per mu is about 6500 jin. The horseshoes I grow are mainly sold to Zhangzhou in Fujian and the Philippines. At present, sales this year are expected to exceed 2.5 million." Xie Liuhua looked at the bumper harvest of horseshoes, smiling from ear to ear.

It is not rich when you are rich, but it is only when everyone is rich. In order to increase villagers' income, town and village cadres guide villagers to plant characteristic crops such as horseshoes and rape flowers. At the same time, vigorously promote improved varieties and methods, provide technical services such as cultivation and transplantation, field management, fertilization guidance, pest control and other technical services for villagers, and actively guide horseshoe growers to grow and manage scientifically, so as to achieve continuous growth in income.

"at present, the horseshoe planting base in our village has 250 mu, which can basically solve the employment problem of more than 100 people. With horseshoes alone, the per capita income per person per year can be increased by about 1600 yuan. Next, the village plans to unite the villagers to expand the planting scale, set up farmers' professional cooperatives, and work together on the well-off road, "Xie Liuhua said.
