Shanyangbao Village is located in arid desert zone, with long sunshine time, large temperature difference between day and night and superior light and heat conditions. It is the best area for planting millet and also the legendary royal tribute rice producing area. More than ten years ago, Ma Wenzhi immigrated from Jingyuan County to Shanyangbao Village. He liked to think about everything and used his brain on this land. With the strong support of County Science and Technology Bureau, Ma Wenzhi has cultivated new varieties of "Dangu No.1" white millet and "Dangu No.2" black millet successively by means of biological enzymatic hydrolysis breeding method, and registered the trademark of "Yaohanzi" for the black and white millet produced through the identification of new crop varieties in Gansu Province.

Compared with ordinary grain,"Dangu 2" newly cultivated by Ma Wenzhi not only has the advantages of drought tolerance, water saving, high yield and strong stress resistance, but also is rich in selenium, strontium, anthocyanin and other trace elements. According to the detection of Gansu Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Harbin City Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the content of iron, calcium and zinc in this variety reaches 132.28 mg, 236.76 mg and 30.60 mg per kilogram respectively, which is several times that of ordinary millet. It also contains carotene, vitamin b1, Vitamin b2 and a variety of essential amino acids, mellow and palatable, regular consumption can significantly improve hypertension, heart disease and other symptoms, market prospects are very promising.

"In addition to the surrounding counties and districts of Minle, Ganzhou and Gaotai, a total of 6200 mu has been planted this year. Next year, I plan to plant 20000 mu to promote the brand." Ma Wenzhi said. This year, the net income per mu of land exceeded 1000 yuan, which further strengthened Ma Wenzhi's confidence in planting black millet.
