In the middle of winter, Huanghua Town, Yongshan County, Yunnan Province, is full of fruits. looking at the fields, the yellow oranges hang all over the branches and are beautiful. This is a bumper harvest scene for the industrious and kind-hearted Huanghua people to make use of the rich land resources and abundant light and heat conditions in the dry-hot valley of the Jinsha River to develop their industries in accordance with local conditions. Huanghua Town is a successful example of industrial development in Yongshan County. Its color and fragrance, delicious taste, large white orange, navel orange and loquat have become famous fruit boutiques. The sweet-smelling green pepper and fragrant Amomum are sold both inside and outside the province.

Apart from the strong support of governments at all levels, the key to the rise of these pillar industries is a group of leading geese in the agricultural industrial revolution who dare to forge ahead. Liu Yingzhou, the father of white tangerines, is the most representative of them.

Liu Yingzhou introduced white tangerines with rich villagers, and was affectionately known as "the father of white tangerines" by the masses.

Liu Yingzhou was the first person who dared to eat crabs in the industrial revolution in Huanghua Town, Yongshan. Along the Yangtze River in Huanghua Town, red tangerines have been planted for a long time, but with the degradation of varieties, people's income is worse year by year.

In order to improve varieties and increase yield, Liu Yingzhou made a special trip to Chongqing Citrus Research Institute in 1988. Through on-site observation and comparing the climate and soil conditions of the two places, Liu Yingzhou boldly introduced white tangerine for trial planting. Loosen the soil, fertilize, plant seedlings, water. Liu Yingzhou takes good care of the introduced white tangerines as if he were a child.

Three years later, his "experimental field" had a pleasant return, and a bright, large and delicious white orange was unveiled in Huanghua Shatin. Compared with the old varieties of red tangerines, white oranges have obvious advantages in terms of output, color, size, taste and price.

After successful planting, Liu Yingzhou gradually grafted and improved his own more than 10 mu old variety of red tangerine. At the same time, we are not stingy to share the fruits of our development with the local people. While raising seedlings and supplying them, he taught citrus grafting to the more elven people in the village.

In a short period of five or six years, Lao Liu's white tangerine was the first to be widely promoted in the Shatin villagers group of Huangge Community, and all the local more than 200 mu of red tangerines changed their names to white tangerines.

In order to expand the white orange to other villages, Liu Yingzhou also brought more than a dozen grafted "local experts" who had been taught by himself to other villages to help the masses improve the old varieties.

Liu Yingzhou started his family by growing white tangerines. Since 1991, he has set up his own nursery garden. Every year, nearly 10,000 white orange seedlings are sold to the masses of the land for planting. At that time, Liu Yingzhou could earn more than 30,000 yuan a year just by raising seedlings, and he became a famous "rich household" in the local area.

His three children, one graduated from Yunnan Orthopaedic Vocational School and worked in Yuxi people's Insurance Company, one graduated from Yunnan Finance University, worked in Yunnan Kaiyuan Automobile Company, and one graduated from Yunnan Honghe College.

"A few years ago, our three sisters had to spend a lot of money on school every year, and my parents gave us up entirely by growing white oranges." Liu Yingzhou's second daughter, Liu Jiajiao, is proud of her parents.
