More than 30 mu of forest is full of free-range pheasants, 12 mu of paddy fields outside the forest are full of lotus roots, and these lotus roots do not spend a penny of fertilizer money. A few days ago, the author came to the ninth group of Longgu Village, Dagu Town, Naxi District, Luzhou City, and saw the eco-agricultural road of young farmer Zhou Genius raising chickens to grow lotus root.

"you see, this stem is much larger than that of lotus roots planted by others. You can imagine how big the lotus roots grow in the mud." As Zhou said, he pulled up a lotus root weighing more than 5 jin in the field. "it's all thanks to chicken dung that my lotus root can grow so fat and strong," Zhou said. "

In 2010, Zhou Genius began to engage in ecological chicken farming. With the continuous expansion of the scale of breeding, the disposal of chicken manure has become a headache for Zhou Genius. In 2011, he learned that chicken manure can be converted into biogas through biogas digester fermentation, while biogas fermentation residues, biogas slurry and biogas residue, can provide high-quality organic fertilizer for crops. He immediately began to practice, built more than 500 cubic meters of biogas digester beside the chicken sheds of all farms, and changed all the paddy fields located at the edge of the forest to lotus root, implementing the "chicken-marsh-dung-lotus root" circular planting.

Zhou Genius said that compared with the use of chemical fertilizer, using chicken manure fermented by biogas digester as the base fertilizer of lotus root, the lotus root obviously grows steadily, the lotus root is thick, and the yield is high, the lotus root tastes sweet, and it is whiter, more crisp and more marketable than ordinary lotus roots. In recent years, his lotus root has never been unsalable, especially what makes Zhou Genius happy is that watering with biogas liquid can save 400 yuan in fertilizer and 100 yuan in labor costs per mu of land. In a year, his 12 mu of lotus root alone saved nearly 6000 yuan in fertilizer and labor costs.

Zhou Genius planted lotus root with a yield of 2000 kg per mu in 2015, which is calculated at a market price of 7 yuan per kilogram. Excluding production costs, he can achieve a net income of 150000 yuan. He really tasted the benefits of eco-circular agriculture.
