The turbot fish, known as turbot, is loved because of its fresh meat and few thorns, but the problem of excessive chemical drugs caused by the abuse of antibiotics in recent years has made people miserable. The reporter learned from East China University of Science and Technology on the 4th that with the support of the National 863 Program, the latest research results of Professor Zhang Yuanxing's team at the university are expected to make us eat the reassuring turbot live Edwardsiella vaccine (EIBAV1 strain), which has obtained the first class registration certificate of the national new veterinary drug, and the product is expected to be put on the market this year. This is the first live mariculture animal vaccine registered in China, and it is also the first government-licensed fish vaccine against Edwardsiella insensitive in the world.

Edwardsilosis is a serious bacterial disease of mariculture turbot. "in 2006, we isolated and identified the highly pathogenic strain EIB202, studied the whole genome and the main pathogenic mechanism, and then accurately screened the natural attenuated strain EIBAV1 with good immunity from many strains according to the characteristics of the pathogenic genome, and made it into a vaccine." Liu Qin, a professor at East China University of Science and Technology and the backbone of the research team, said that because the vaccine is a naturally attenuated live bacteria, small fish fry only need to "soak" in vaccine water for three minutes to enhance their immunity.

The study also found that the vaccine is also effective for fish species such as flounder flounder, Cynoglossus semilaevis and eel other than flounder flounder.

"in addition to doing research on the extended indications of existing vaccines, we also plan to use Edwardsiella tarda as a breakthrough to develop three to five vaccines against major diseases of turbot, including Vibrio eel, to form an overall epidemic prevention system. covering all stages of the growth of turbot." Zhang Yuanxing said.

At present, Zhang Yuanxing and his team are working with Zhejiang Nuobiwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and other enterprises to improve the production line and GMP procedures. (Fang Shufen reporter Chen Yu)
