Many times at his own expense to Guilin Citrus Research Institute to visit and study, and to Lipu, Gongcheng and other counties to visit big seedlings, worship teachers to learn skills. Guilin Wenzhou citrus seedlings were introduced from Guilin in 1997, and 5 mu were planted locally. In the third year, they began to hang fruit. The average fruit yield per mu was more than 2000 kg. In 1998, Xiao Chen introduced more than 30,000 high-quality citrus seedlings in Guilin. Due to technology and careful care, the seedlings grew well. As soon as the seedlings were on the market, they were snapped up, and only the income of the seedlings reached more than 60,000 yuan that year.

In 2001, Xiao Chen went to Guilin to attend the citrus exchange meeting at his own expense, and went to Chongqing Citrus Fruit Research Institute to introduce more than 10 varieties, such as late mandarin, Japanese tangerine, American orange, Taroko blood orange, tribute orange, sand sugar orange, April early peach, Niu Xin plum, American Brown plum and so on. Seedlings were raised in Zhenhong Village, Sicheng Town, Lingyun County and Lianjun Village, Xinhua Town, Leye County, and 30 mu were planted as the mother source of grafting, with an annual sales income of up to 120000 yuan.

Information is the key to getting rich. It is not enough to subscribe to science and technology acrobatics and go to other places to study. In order to learn newer and more applicable technologies, Xiao installed a computer at home in 2002 to get information about the outside world on the Internet.

By the end of 2004, Xiao Dust had built a three-story building of more than 400 square meters, bought household appliances such as televisions and refrigerators, and motorcycles. He also bought pick-up trucks to transport citrus fruits, opened a small shop on the first floor of his house, installed a study, and usually practiced calligraphy and writing, so as to enrich his leisure life. Now the life of the family is booming.

In 2005, he invested more than 300,000 yuan to create more than 100 mu of sugar orange-based orchards on the barren slope of the local Heiwangou, and also planted grapefruit, mandarin, loquat and other fruits, thus setting up a house and resettling the labor force of two families of people in need. The people around him all said: Xiao Dust, a Communist Party member, gave full play to the exemplary vanguard role of Party members, driving not only the local people to get rich, but also the people in surrounding villages and towns to become rich. In early January 2016, I saw him in Xiaochen Orchard. I saw him busy picking citrus fruits, there were local fruit vendors buying citrus fruits, many tourists took pictures in the orchard, and the orchard was festive and busy. Xiao Chen said: "this year, the fruit of sugar in the orchard is good, and the output is higher than in previous years. It is expected to reach 150000 jin, with an output value of more than 400000 yuan."
