The golden cauliflower scenic spot in Chongniche Town, Tongnan District, will add a touch of light in three months-the Damascus roses covering an area of 4600 acres are in full bloom for the first time in three years. The city's largest Damascus rose monomer planting and processing base and essential oil extraction base is not only a witness to the love and career of he Quan and Li he, but also a generous gift for them to give back to their fellow villagers.

A PhD in chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a master's degree in developmental biology, and the couple who sang and accompanied them returned to their hometown in Tongnan three years ago to plant roses and become modern farmers. Zhu Furong, deputy mayor of Tongnan District, who is in charge of agricultural tourism, and local villagers are particularly proud: "We have the highest educated farmers in the country to lead us to develop the economy and shake off poverty and become rich!"

In the view of he Quan and his wife, the growth of the rose base is inseparable from the climate, geographical location and harmony of people.

Celestial time

Chongqing's economic development is booming.

Long rain boots, sunshade straw hat, go into the muddy field to cultivate soil for the new seedlings. Dr. he Quan, 45, is so skillful that he looks no different from an ordinary farmer. He said that he is a rural child in Tongnan and can be "seamlessly connected" with the land.

He Quan is the pride of Class 1, Grade 91 in Tongnan Middle School. After graduating from the chemistry department of Lanzhou University, he entered Chengdu Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for further study and obtained a doctoral diploma. Before returning to his hometown, he had resigned as director of the research institute of a well-known daily chemical company in Guangzhou and had a high annual salary to set up his own business in Chengdu. His wife, Li he, is also a younger sister from Lanzhou University, and later obtained a master's degree in developmental biology from Sun Yat-sen University.

Speaking of going back to Tongnan, there seems to be providence. In 2011, Tongnan Investment Promotion Association threw an olive branch to he Quan. Also invited was Li Jiangtao, a high school classmate. The latter has been engaged in hotel operation and development along the coast since he majored in economy and trade in Sichuan Agricultural University.

An invitation for friends and classmates to get together again. An even more unexpected fate is that Liao Shixiang, the party committee secretary of the town who participated in attracting investment on behalf of Chongniche town, and his father is still he Quan's Chinese teacher! The two men then called each other as division brothers, and Li Jiangtao was precisely a native of Lao Dian Village in Chongniche Town.

"go back to your hometown and have a big fight!" He Quan and Li Jiangtao were filled with emotion, not only because of their classmates' feelings of their hometown, but also because of their judgment on the development potential and opportunities of their hometown: the Tongnan Chongshou cauliflower Festival, which was launched in 2008, has become a well-known rural tourism festival in the city in three years; the newly opened Yusui Expressway and Chengdu-Chongqing EMU have made their hometown a transportation and economic link between Sichuan and Chongqing....

"at that time, the economy of the coastal areas was not as expected, and many enterprises went out of business. On the contrary, the construction and development of their hometown Chongqing was hot." In this way, he Quan, Li he and Li Jiangtao became partners and conducted professional research in their hometown of Tongnan for more than a year, covering location transportation, water source and soil, rural labor force, technical support, market gap, and so on.

In 2012, they decided to return to Chongshou as farmers and set up Chongqing Yaxiang Meiyuan Ecological Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., and planted 500 mu of experimental plots at the end of the year, focusing on the planting and processing of Damascus roses, essential oil extraction and demonstration and promotion of new agricultural variety breeding. Husband he Quan became the chairman of the company in charge of strategic planning, wife Li Heren led the team to supervise technology research and development, and good friend partner Li Jiangtao served as general manager, responsible for market development and other comprehensive affairs.

Geographical location

The climate and soil are unique.

Choose the shrine, in addition to emotional ties, but also because of geographical advantages.

He Quan explained to the Chongqing Evening News: Tongnan cauliflower festival is famous in Sichuan and Chongqing, and the passenger flow of 30,000 mu of Huahai core scenic spot continues to increase every year. The rose base of 4600 mu is directly adjacent to the tourist pavilion in the core scenic spot of Huahai. "the rose base is the back garden of the cauliflower scenic spot, which not only adds light to the cauliflower festival, but also takes advantage of the east wind to get twice the result with half the effort."

Partner Li Jiangtao reported an account: from April 10 to May 13 last year, the company held the first Rose Festival with the help of the cauliflower festival, and the ticket revenue alone was 650000 yuan. the total income of processed products such as rose cake, rose tea, rose essential oil and rose mask exceeded 1.8 million yuan.

Growing Damascus roses is very particular about climate and soil. Chongniche Town has an average annual temperature of 17.9 degrees Celsius, with plenty of sunshine in full bloom in April. More importantly, Damascus roses should be rooted in weakly alkaline weathered soil, and phosphorus and potassium are nutrient solutions for growth. Chongshou as a rapeseed base, every household has rapeseed, a large number of rapeseed meal and oil residue cake left after oil extraction, containing extremely high phosphorus and potassium elements, is the best fertilizer.

According to reports, the 500 mu Damascus roses that first bloomed at the base the year before last were tested by Chengdu Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the four most important indicators, namely, survival rate, flowering quantity, oil yield, and oil quality, all exceeded national standards.

Of course, the scientific research team contributed a lot to this. It is reported that the first batch of Damascus varieties in the base was originally introduced from Europe by the technical team at a cost of 250000 euros and took many years to cultivate in the experimental base.

According to the plan of he Quan and his wife and the company's board of directors, the Chongjie rose planting base will be expanded to 30,000 mu in the next 3-5 years, which is equivalent to creating a rape flower base of the same scale. to become a well-known rose industry planting base and tourist park in China and even in the world.

Human harmony

The government's neighbors give full support.

If you are in the right place at the right time, you can't do without human harmony.

He Quan said that he is very grateful for the follow-up service of party and government cadres in Tongnan: no matter in terms of land circulation, planning and construction, or in mobilizing villagers to support each other and participate in stock planting, leading cadres at all levels in the district, town and village have done a lot of mobilization and persuasion to make the rose base from 4600 mu to 4600 mu, and then to the planned 30,000 mu to become bigger and stronger.

In addition, Tongnan District Communications Committee not only repaired the village road and cauliflower festival tourism ring road, but also raised funds to harden more than 10 kilometers of social road surface; the District Water Bureau and forestry departments invested heavily in the construction of irrigation systems and drainage ditches, which can not only withstand drought, but also avoid Qiongjiang flood. The District Science and Technology Commission and the Poverty Alleviation Office not only provide scientific and technological support personnel to cooperate with Li he's technical research and development team, but also travel around for its patent applications.

General Manager Li Jiangtao also has an account in mind: over the past three years, Tongnan government departments have given about 2 million yuan a year to assist the development of the rose base to drive villagers out of poverty. He Quan is even more grateful for the trust and support of his neighbors: "he will not only transfer the land to us, but also come to work for the rose base no matter whether he is busy with the autumn harvest or in the cold winter months."

When interviewed by a reporter from the Chongqing Evening News, a group of middle-aged and elderly women in front of the field were still cultivating soil and seedlings under the guidance of technicians, and the piercing cold water and cold wind could not extinguish their enthusiasm for their work: "pruning, cutting flowers and turning over the soil is not manual work." we can handle it at the age of 60! "
